Ok, I have no idea what to do with these. I hear so much about them that I bought some when I saw it at the grocery store.

What the hell do I do with them?

Anyone else think for a second we had a player named Bay leave?

Man, can the season get here any slower?

You also put a couple in your flour cannister to keep bugs out. Weevils etc.

You could make a wreath out of bay leaves (from the laurel tree) and put them on the head of someone who is graduating -- 'baccalaureate' refers to the wreaths placed on the heads of those who graduated and stuff back in the Greek days. Or something to that effect.

A recipie I use for frying turkeys calls for bay leaves to be ground up and used in the dry rub mix to make it all tasty and whatnot.

Or soups and stews or chili. Gumbo, too!

When you use a bay leaf in a pot roast or stew or whatever, tear each side of the leaf almost to the spine. This allows the flavor to release better but also allows the leaf to remain intact so you can fish it out before eating. Biting into a bay leaf can be a fairly nasty experience.

No, no, no--you leave them in there, and make sure they wind up in your kids' plates. They love it.

I don't know a thing about mash, but if it's a dry substance of the grain variety, yes, it would work. Just don't forget to fish the leaf out before you cook the stuff. :D
