Everybody got a kick out of the Pride playing "Thriller" and doing the dance. Is there a mainstream song that anyone wishes that the Pride plays this year?

Online by Brad Paisley

The last part of the music video is played by a marching band it sounds pretty good.

This video has it at the beginning.

I'm not a Free Shoes University Crimenoles fan by any stretch, but...
A few years back they played a number of Dave Matthews Band songs and it actually turned out pretty cool. I stumbled on a few mp3 with the performance(s) and while it wasn't quite as cool as Thriller (even though I can honestly say I can't stand that creepy freak) it was pretty good none the less. Outkast had a marching band play on the song "Morris Brown". I'd give my vote to that.

Actually, I've been wanting them to play this one song for years now. Not so much a pop-radio or anything along those lines. Every now and then, a really mean/intimidating song for the D. "Symphonie Fantastique, Op.14: V. Songe d'une Nuit du Sabbat" fits that nicely. Seriously

I think "Hollaback Girl" would be kinda fun. But that's probably been done too much by marching bands.

So, alternately, you could play anything by Yello. Nobody would expect that.

They should get get somebody with an electric guitar to play the solo. Talk about getting people pumped at halftime.

Would be cool, but VaTech has pretty much closed the deal on that one. They do it for the team entrance, and (aside from anything OU) it is the best team entrance bar none.

Seriously, though, some Ben Harper would rock - maybe Temporary Remedy.

Hmmm, no movie show, that is unusual.

Looks like a good lineup none the less. Everything in the Ellington and the patriotic shows I did when I was in the Pride; I'm curious to see if they are changed up at all. Interesting to see that everything else is pretty much rock oriented.

i think they should nix the jazz show. not because i dont like jazz, because i do, but its boring to a football crowd. and marching bands tend to swing like dead monkeys.

Maybe we should turn the sheet music of the opposing team's fight song upside down and see how the band performs it after every Sooner score.

That is so depressing! Don't play Lifehouse and Yellowcard! This is college football! Not middle school! Play something that everyone can agree on. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones. The Who will be cool. Just don't cover a 9 year old girl band from TRL.

The Pride has already set the precedent that they'll play something that another school is known for, so why should this be any different?

Personally, I don't care that Va Tech plays a song or not. It just seems like a pretty sad excuse after the inclusion of the Gator chant every time you turned around last year.

Not a huge fan of the Gator chant, but I do see your point. To be a bit more specific than my last post, VaTech's band doesn't actually play the song. It's blared over the pa for a couple of minutes and the team comes out of the tunnel as the opening bass-riff transitions into the full band. The majority of the stadium is doing the Duke-bball student section "jump up and down in unison" thing all the while. But to get back to the point, I wouldn't mind all that much if the band were to pull that out. Personally, I'm all for the overtly aggressive and more contemporary (not really something that's on mtv or some clear-channel radio station to the point where redundant is an understatement) during the game. Halftime, keep it a little more chill.

I'm hoping Go Gators! gets sacked this season.

Trust me, we groaned every time we had to play it.
