View Full Version : My Vision of EXPO in Tulsa

I'm thinking the folks down at EXPO are wanting The Drillers and Big Splash out of the way so they can build a State of the Art Urban Horse Track somewhat like Remington Park in OKC.

Since Tulsa has now made agreements over the Sales Tax and now get their share, I'm betting once they break ground on a Track, the folks who have Homes between Harvard Ave. and the EXPO Grounds will soon be told how much their Homes are worth before being told they must move.

That area is gonna need some Parking and more land for those Horse Trailers.

I'm betting they will teardown the old suspension building that's Home to the Legendary "Chili Bowl" in order to try to keep room for the Tulsa State Fair.

Or...

Maybe they even plan on trying to move the Fair off the Property too.

What say you?

NO...I haven't been drinking. :D

Well they took out Bells and things with Big Splash seemed fishy. Of course they did fire the head of the board so I don't know. Really they shot themselves in the foot by kicking Bells out and if Big Splash goes that'll be it for the Expo I think.

I think the Mayor and the Board are in cahootz and the new Ballpark for the Drillers is part of clearing everyone off the EXPO land.

That's why I have come up with this senario / Conspiracy. :D

Meh, the Expo board is Tulsa County. And Tulsa County can suck a d*ck, unless it's the song "Tulsa County". That song is good.

The EXPO area has seen the last of my money.

As much as some folks might feel sorry for Big Splash...we decided to not get a Family Pass for the kids this year. Our reason was tough because the Kids didn't care why we made it...they would overlook things we couldn't because they love the place.

The bathrooms were always filthy and smelled of urine or didn't work.

I always took our own life jackets when a kid was going that either couldn't swim or was a poor swimmer. The ones they provide are worthless.

The chairs they had weren't replaced every year and they never ever seemed ready to open each and every year. On day one if you wanted to get your permanent yearly passes for you and the kids, they would have long lines for you to stand in for weeks at a time every year.

The food...meh.

I could go on and on.

They had a suggestion box that I would put a few suggestions in and even put a number where they could reach me if they had a question about why I felt they could improve the park. They never called me...not even once. You'd think they would at least acknowledge you after being a customer for years.

After seeing all this BS in the news about EXPO and Big Splash...

I'm completely sour on both of them.

I'm also sorry to say that they have see the last of us at Drillers Games because of it.

My kids love the games.

We'll be watching the Free Fireworks from Lowes though. :D

Feel free to come back and watch the Drillers once we get them away from that sh*tty county dump they're at right now and into a nice downtown ballpark. :D

Dude, Drillers Stadium is done for either way.

It has been a while since I've been to Big Splash. Of course I don't remember things being crappy like the bathrooms or things being poor. Of course I was younger and didn't care as much. However, it would not make me sad to see it get torn down. Why? It didn't have much to offer and what it had always had a long wait. Bells of course was trying to expand but the jackass neighbors kept them from doing anything and now they're gone for good.

Fair Meadows can still suck it

and if it goes downtown, that's kinda cool. anywhere is better than Jenks :D

Eh, I doubt the horse track gets expanded since horse racing in this state is suffering even with the addition of the casinos.
Unless they remove the loophole keeping casino style gambling out of Fair Meadows...then look for it to be shuttered in about 5yrs, give or take.
Ron Shotts(track prez at one time)said years ago that he considered closing in the track with glass and steel and improving the facility as a whole but cannot justify doing that with what was the economy then.
It's worse now, so I don't see it happening.

Cannot compare it to Blue Ribbon,Remington, or Will Rogers since they play by different rules due to gaming allowed in there, PLUS the fact that it seems Tulsa has more than it's share of indian gaming that competes for the entertainment dollar.
In short, it ain't happening.

It does have more than ample room for some tittay bars though. :D

Let's just say there's a reason why all city functions are going in that gigantic *** antfarm downtown.

Goodbye, Central Fire Station.

First time in over 100 years Tulsa Fire Department Headquarters will not be housed in an actual fire station.

EDIT: Excuse me. First time EVER in the history of the first fully mechanized department west of the Mississippi River, and the first internationally accredited department in the state.

<----You mean that "gigantic *** antfarm"? It's actually not that gigantic when you're standing on the 15th floor, looking up at the BOK Tower. :D

Bring back the modified and super modified.

I'd vote for that.

Plus an indoor track for the Chili Bowl. :D

I'd like lots of ventilation for it too.

Seriously....those of you that think Horse Racing is suffering...you might be right...but that doesn't stop those folks from trying anything to revitalize it.

Plus I don't trust a one of them.

I wish I could...but I just don't have anything that says..."Come on ST you know those folks are in it for the love of the Horses".

Emmitt Hahn SuperSpeedway.

That has a nice ring to it IMO. :D :pop:

Dude, Drillers Stadium is done for either way.

I think your exactly right about that Bri.

I also think that The EXPO is what has kept The Drillers from becoming more popular in the Tulsa Area.

The quicker they are out of EXPO the better.

It just won't happen for realz until next year I bet.

I'll be back once they are out.

I took a stroll down Black Wall Street a couple of days ago and started getting excited about the proposed ballpark all over again.

And I've had burning hate for the Expo jackasses ever since they drove out Bell's. I WANT TO RIDE THE F*CKING HIMALAYA, GODDAMMIT!!!

SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) -- The Choctaw Nation is negotiating the sale of the Blue Ribbon Downs horse racing track in Sallisaw.
No deal has been announced, but the track's General Manager Blaine Story wrote in filings with the state Horse Racing Commission that a deal is near.
Story says the Choctaw Nation has been negotiating with a prospective buyer and that a draft agreement is being reviewed by both parties.
A tribal spokeswoman says the Choctaws have been trying to sell the track for a while and that no potential buyers have been named.

Dang, that sucks.

If it turns out the IPE blding has been making money and paying rent on a timely manner, then without a doubt they are doomed at Expo Square.

I wonder if I can get some rent free space at Expo Square????

Heh. Let me know if you score some space...I'll take half of what you get and pay your part of nothing.

LOL
