TULSA — A man riding a bicycle in southwest Tulsa was shot early today after refusing to give it to a group of men that tried to steal it, authorities said.

The 53-year-old rider suffered a non-life threatening wound after a bullet struck his leg, according to a police report.

Before 2 a.m. today, a man told police he was riding a bicycle in the 5100 block of S Peoria Avenue when four or five black or Hispanic men demanded his bicycle. He was pushed off after refusing. The man got on the bicycle and was riding away when a would-be robber fired a handgun twice at him, striking his left leg, according to a police report.

The man asked a clerk at a hotel in the 4500 block of E Skelly Drive to call a cab, saying he couldn't afford to ride in an ambulance.

Those with information about the attempted bicycle jacking are asked to call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at (918) 596-2677.

I don't think it was Bikerfox. He wouldn't "refuse to give it to a group of men."

Wait a minute. They were talking about the bicycle. Nevermind.

You know, you gotta be one sucky robber if you can't bikejack someone and you have a gun.

Well, we're talking 51st and Peoria here. Not really the best and brightest of our criminal world.

The thing that stuck out to me was this: "black or Hispanic men"

It's like it didn't really matter, except that they were one or the other. Maybe it was just reported terribly.

Maybe one of them was Rueben Sierra.

They should have described the perps as "non-European-American origin, of sub-saharan African and/or Mexican descent"
