If I didn't see Hellboy 1, will I be lost?

I'm not sure, I don't know how this sequal will be connected. But here's the cliff notes on what to know about Hellboy. He's a demon that the US Army captured after the Nazis brought him to life. The US government hides him in the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD) with other odd beings and fights demons and things. He files off his horns to make him appear less demon-like (the stumps on his forehead) and has a soft spot for cats. Alot of the Hellboy stories are based on folklore and legends, so you may find some of the stories and characters familiar.

The Nazi's opened some kind of portal to Hell. They were planning on letting demons into our world in order to take over the world and gain tremendous power. The Allies got the portal closed, but Hellboy (as a little Hellboy) made it through the portal.

All in all, not a bad flick. Ron Perlman does a good job.

Hellboy II looks pretty good with all the different monsters. I think Guillermo del Toro is the director which means the monsters will be creative and it will be good action with good f/x.

Yep, I went into it expecting nothing and was very pleasantly surprised. I'm looking forward to the new one.
