2008 watch lists....
I didn't see this posted yet. So here ya go. Very impressive list of OUr players

Does anyone know if this is the most players on either of those preseason watch lists that we've ever had?
Seems like a lot to me. But it also seems like a they are all legit choices.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Several state college football players are on pre-season watch lists for various college awards.

Nine members of the University of Oklahoma team and one player for Oklahoma State are named to the watch list for the Maxwell and Bednarik awards.

The Maxwell Award is presented annually to college football's top player. On the list are OU quarterback Sam Bradford, tight end Jermaine Gresham, receiver Juaquin Iglesias, running back DeMarco Murray and OSU quarterback Zac Robinson.

The Bednarik Award goes to the nation's top defensive player. On this year's watch list are OU linebacker Ryan Reynolds, tackle DeMarcus Granger, safety Nic Harris, end Auston English and tackle Gerald McCoy.

Thanks for sharing that. Does a player have to be on either list before the season starts in order to be eligible to win it

No prob.
Here's an old link from last season in regards to the Maxwell, Sam got added to the watch list in October last season. So to answer your question, it looks like someone from out of the blue/unexpected can get added to the list mid season w/a great chance to win it.

A player can win the award if they were not on the preseason watch list.

Since the 2004 squad, I've made a point of not getting excited in the pre-season. If they could fall short, *any* team can fall short.

That being said, sure does seem like things are coming together for us to have a great year.

Knock on wood.
