It could be a game, a play, an overall experience, etc...

The OU/neb game in 2000 was an amazing experience

The New Orleans Trip in 03 I had an amazing time other than the end of the game, it was the best trip of my life!

First game my wife attended, which was also first football game she had ever attended, UCLA. She got caught up in the pre-game atmosphere, the people, and overall experience. Game was great, of course, highlighted by Antonio Perkins doing his thing that day. As we were walking back to our car, the clouds parted a little bit and a ray of sunshine shone directly on the OU water tower. She busted out laughing and said "God must be a Sooner fan too!"

Honestly the loudest that I have ever cheered was when Marcus Walker intercepted the Boise State pass and ran it back for a TD with like a minute left. I think I was saying every possible cuss word ever. Leave it at that.

1985 OU vs Nebraska - even though I was only 7, the games I saw during this era shaped my Sooner fandom for life. Holieway, Boz, and Kieth Jackson were some of my first sports idols. I became a big Charles Thompson fan after Holieway was gone. I also remember the 1988 OU/NE game very well because of the weather (not the score). I wish I had the ticket stubs for the games I went to during this period.

More recently, this past Big 12 Championship was very satisfying, especially considering I had witnessed the infamous losses this decade to Colorado, Boise St., and LSU. I would have been at last year's fiesta bowl, too, but was on a family vacation. Thank goodness.

The last couple years, even with the bowl game woes, have been my favorite of all time, though. My grandparents have been season ticket holders since the 50's. In a sense, my grandfather's prime was during the Wilkinson days... My father's prime was during the Switzer reign... and I view the Stoops era as very much my own. Watching AD play was unreal. I was so pumped up last year and thought the Sooners had a great shot at playing in another NC. I might even be more excited for this year's team!

That OU/Nebraska game in 2000 was awesome. There was a certain feeling around town after that game. We were ready to go all the way to the title game.

I was there and remember the feeling that day. Were were down by 14 early and then rolled em. I knew we were back as a major program again, and that we were the best team in the country. The only downside that day was the goal posts getting torn down. That was a little embarrasing.

My FIRST big memory was the 1983 Nebraska game when I was 9 years old when they had Turner Gill, Mike Rozier and Irving Fryar. It was a great back and forth game, in cold and rainy weather. During the second half, my uncle and I went into the tunnel to warm up a little, and we noticed there were no security guards by the ramp to the southeast corner of the field. We walked down the ramp and were watching the game from the southeast corner of the field. Spencer Tillman then broke a run (maybe 40 yards?) up the middle for a TD. That TD tied the game and the crowd was going nuts, UNBELIEVABLY LOUD.

It felt like there was electricity in the air. That is when I knew what Oklahoma Football was all about. Then a security guard caught us and made us get off the field. We ended up losing a close game.

I still remember that like it was yesterday.

Getting kicked out of Floyd Casey stadium in 2000, with my longhorn wife (dressed in full Sooner garb) for throwing oranges on the field. The funny part is we were leaving and almost out the gate when the 900 year old security guards asked us to leave. Oh, and we were chasing a bitter bear fan who hit my wife in the back of the head with a plastic cup...and then he ran.

This is easy and a great question for my first post on your board. It has to be the Sooner 28-21 loss to the Cornhuskers
in 1970!

You all have a class program and l am looking foreword to the A$$ kicking we are about to get from the Sooners this fall. It is a series that never should have been put aside when the Big 12 was formed. Good luck this fall.:)

Rickey Dixon intercepting a pass and taking it to the hoouse against OSU (I think?) in 85 or 86. Can't really remember, I just remember the play.

Tuscaloosa and the fake punt. Now that was a crowd and momentum SILENCED.

Reggie Smith fumble return for td last yr against Miami. My first home game since 98 and I jumped up and landed on my coke and sprayed coke all over section 4. Good times. :D

Don't worry, there will be no butt whuppin' this fall. You have talent, and a coach who understands the college game unlike Capt. Classless Clueless.

Anyway... bottom to top:

First game: Lil' Joe smoke through a keyhole punt return v. LoSuRs.

Dad screaming "Stick that in you ear, Bob Devaney!" in '76 after onside and hook-and-ladder. Scared my lil' brother half to death.

Crying after losing to Arkansas after the Orange Bowl. So sue me. It was the only time and I was 10.

Epic OU-USC matchup '81.

Development of my OU ego where the next week Iowa State "won" 7-7. Fat guy in an inner tube in the pool at the Holiday Inn Holidome on Meridian exclaiming at the top of his lungs, "I cannot BELIEVE we actually tied Oklahoma." Hmmm... we're better than them.

Humility. Jeff Hostetler and WVU. (BTW, much more legitimate loss than to Pat McScrambleswhite.)

Redemption. Bad underdogs, supposed bad team, Texas the HUGE favorite. My first OU-TX game. 1982. Marcus Dupree.

I was there: OU-LoSuRs for the Big 8 enchilada in '84.

I was there: OU-TX greatest defensive beat-down of TX evar '85!

I was there: OU-NU for the Big 8 enchilada and shot at the NC in '85.

I wasn't there, but at home... with a bunch of Notre Dame and Nebraska fans around me... when we were at our nadir, them feeling so sorry for me, poor Sooner... pure misery... 0 and 4.... going to get our brains beat in by a hated rival and 21 point favorite.... screaming until I was hoarse: '96 OU-TX.

I was there: OU-NU 2000. Red October.

I wasn't there, but at home, January 2001... WE'RE NUMBER ONE, WE'RE BACK, OU!, BOOMER SOONER!.... up and down the street, with my flag, especially in front of the house flying the FSU Seminoles flag. :D I'm fairly surprised the men with the cute little very-long-sleeved coats with buckles didn't show up.

I was there: OU-Alabama 2002. I have nothing but respect for their program and fans. They were great, and it was a hotly contested very exciting contest. It was one of my all-time favs.

I was there: OU-Miami 2007. Freaking revenge. Stick it, and stick it hard you jive-smackin' South FLA miscreant hip-hoppin' thug wannabees. Buh-bye.

And all of this will fade in the rear-view mirror with number 8, whenever we are priveleged enough to see it come.

2000 OU-NU. Just thinking about it gives me chills. I was in the upper deck, and it was deafening up there. Electric. And I don't think the goal posts coming down that day was embarrassing, that was a capper to a decade plus of frustration, but I don't think they should ever be torn down again, no matter what. There will never be a season like that one again.

In recent years, I would have to say my favorite Sooner moment was when "Q" scooted into the endzone against FSU midway through the fourth quarter to make it 13-0 in the Orange Bowl. With the way our defense was playing, I knew that score was enough to give us National Championship #7.

The 3 minutes after Superman were some of the best moments I can remember as a sports fan. The LOUDEST I have ever heard our side of a full stadium...while the absolute quietest and most pissed I have ever seen the Whorns....

Those cocky spares KNEW it was their year to win the MNC, which was of course a guarantee (entitlement) in the Crissy Era. All their hopes and dreams slipped way with a single ill-advised dive by TRRW.

I had one of those moments where I was yelling so loud that I was seeing little stars....but our side of the stadium was so loud that I couldn’t hear myself.

....A beautiful moment.

Everything about RED OCTOBER
Pulling out of Pro Player stadium while trying to explain to my 10 year old son why we can't expect that kind of season every year.

and lastly - 3 days after the superman play, setting in the Shady Grove Restaurant in Austin, watching my son get Chris Sim's Autograph on his OU hat.

I sit with my dad in the North End Zone and I have never seen my dad as excited as he was on Keith's end around in 85 and the interception made by (oh help me, Fagan? Derrick Strait?) in 2000. Those were amazing games.

1977 OU/Ohio State- as a little girl I was covering my eyes and half watching Von Schamann make that kick. I don't ever remember being as nervous as I was then.

1985-my first (and only, so far) OU/tx game. I was a freshman at OU and at that time I was engaged. I told my fiancee that if I could find tix I was taking my Dad (longtime fan for 35+ years or so). He totally didn't understand why I would take my dad and not him. I should have known then the marriage wouldn't last. I remember getting 2 endzone tix in the OU section for $110, lol. I would kill for prices like that now.

2000 National Title Game-that was a surreal night. Watched it on tv. Funny thing was that day when I went to the grocery store, I picked up some oranges. I didn't realize til the end of the game, I had bought 7. Premonition maybe? I keep thinking if I buy 8 maybe we'll win the 8th title, lol.

2003 Rose Bowl-Fun Times, beating a Pac 10 team in our first and only Rose Bowl game. Living in So Cal at the time made it all that sweeter.

I don't remember the year, but it was under Blake. And the OU/tx game went to OT. James Allen scored the winning TD. That was such a bright moment in such an awful year. We were at a sports bar filled with ut fans and the look on their faces was priceless.

The OU/Texas A&M game where Paul Thompson had that amazing drive towards the end of the game. Those were some unbelievable plays he made.

As you know, I could go on and on, but these are a few that stand out in my mind.

also really loved the 81 Orange Bowl--Rhodes/Valora comeback against FSU.

and the Ohio State 77 game was pretty great. as a kid in Norman after the game there were people just driving their cars around town honking their horns and throwing beer cans out the windows....for hours after the game ended. much different time, but really cool. delirium.

Sims was great. He joked with my son - then as he was leaving he came over to our table and wished us a good season. He was really a class act.

Actually my son had (and still has) more respect for Sims, as a person, than our current QB coach. After the Texas Tech game in 2000 we witnessed Josh rip into a Oklahoma Highway patrolman for allowing a deaf kid (who had big hearing aids on) and his father to come up and ask for an autograph. Josh wasn't much for autographs - or being friendly with the public (unless a television camera was a round).

One I doubt that happened in the context that you are explaining if at all, two when did you ask? If it was right after the game I have no problem with him being annoyed with you for your rudeness, if it was on the way to the bus and he was rude then that isnt cool of him although you do have to realize that he did just bust his arse for 3 hours previous to that and was likely exhausted, if he was rude to the kid that is not cool either.

Collier - dont' be a jerk - we weren't rude - we didn't even approach him. My son knew how JH was, and was afraid to go up and talk to him. And you are calling me a liar if you question that it happened at all.

Read my post- He wasn't annoyed with me or my 10 year old son or my son's friend (and friends father) who also saw it happen. If you would have read my post, you would have seen that he yelled at a patrolman because a deaf kid approached him for an autograph (at least we figured he was deaf because of the extra large hearing aids that were attached to the very young kids ears.

I demand that you go to the store sometime between now and August 30 and buy 8 oranges! Hurry!

I don't get to many game but I was at the OU/Neb. game in 2000. That and the championship game were my best.

I've sat here thinking about it and decided I just can't narrow it down to one so here's my 3-way tie:

15-15 tie with TexAss - Wasn't a "great" moment but easily one of the most memorable.

Superman - No explanation needed.

2K OB - Smashing both FS_Who's and ThugU's dreams in one game, doesn't get any better than that!

That's easy. OU vs. Missouri 1975. We were beat. Late in the game 4th down.
Joe Washington breaks like a 75 yard run to score a touchdown. Saved the game and the national championship season.

I never screamed so loud over an OU moment in my life. Sorta went ape in fact.

Agree. Bizarre game. We're up by 20 and then meltdown to let them take an 8 point lead. I think it was just meant to be that year. Remember we also beat Colorado at home 21-20 after they scored late, decided to go for the tie, and then missed the extra point.

You can think what you want - but we witnessed this same sort thing occur several times after games - and never saw it happen with any other players. I figured that he just didn't like to sign autograph - but he could have been nicer about it.

Go back and read my original post.

Ill call BS as to it Happening the way you said .
