ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE SONICS 2ND PICK(#24 IN THE FIRST ROUND )IS WTF?You don't take a developmental player in the first round, that is for late 2nd round or FA signing.

At least we know they'll still suck when OKC gets them.

And Oklahomans want this ownership team in OKC?

OKie Dokie. What a stoopid pick.

So they'll be able to get Blake next year.

Maybe that was their plan. They use this year's draft to screw up and give them another terrible season, especially if they think it will be in Seattle, hehe. Then they pick up the hometown favorite in Griffin in the next draft to boost OKC ticket sales even more. Genious! Or the most likely reason......they thought they were really making the best choice for improvement. Sad. But hey, they will still have a shot at Blake now.

Wow, I hate to be condescending but we needed a PG and defense. He was the tallest of the top PG's in the draft and was the PAC 10 defensive player of the year. He averaged almost 5 assists per game and was the starter for the best team, in the best basketball conference in the NCAA.

This wasn't the media hype pick but between Bayless (not a PG and turnover prone) and Westbrook, we got the better of the two best options on the board.

Why wouldn't we want this ownership group here, they're Oklahoma Citiens and got Durant and Green last year.

I'm not the only one who thought so and I bet he would have still been available in the 2nd round. maybe even the 3rd round.

Not that it really matters, but I'm pretty sure that Collison was the starting PG for UCLA.

I agree it was the best pick they could have made, though.

luke ridnour and earl watson are not defensive palyers. it's obvious they were looking to fill their roster with a great defensive pg and alot of people think he's the best in the draft. he's not a big name player but i think he'll be similar to gary payton early on in his career.

the sonics were one of the worst defensive teams in the league, especially on the perimeter.

You are obviously not a basketball guy. No way he would have been available after the 11th overall pick (where Bayless was drafted). Oh and there isn't a GD third round in the NBA draft.

I agree it was the best pick they could have made, though. He shared that role with Collison and mainly because he's a couple of grades below Collison. Trust me, Westbrook is going to be the better pro mainly because of size and defense.

Westbrook (http://newsok.com/keysearch/?er=1&CANONICAL=Russell+Westbrook&CATEGORY=PERSON), who was a sixth man for the Bruins (http://newsok.com/keysearch/?er=1&CANONICAL=UCLA+Bruins&CATEGORY=ORGANIZATION) and arguably the third-best player on his team behind Kevin Love (http://newsok.com/keysearch/?er=1&CANONICAL=Kevin+Love&CATEGORY=PERSON) and Darren Collison (http://newsok.com/keysearch/?er=1&CANONICAL=Darren+Collison&CATEGORY=PERSON), saw his draft stock soar over the past few weeks.

Defensively, Westbrook is nothing short of outstanding, as evidenced by the phenomenal work he did locking down the three top scoring guards in the Pac-10 this season, O.J. Mayo (http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/O.J.-Mayo-238/), Jerryd Bayless (http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jerryd-Bayless-1067/), and James Harden (http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/James-Harden-1241/). He is long, strong and very fundamentally sound, getting into a terrific defensive stance on every possession, moving his feet incredibly well, and being absolutely tenacious getting after his matchup. His wingspan, combined with his huge hands and outstanding anticipation skills make him a terror in the passing lanes, and this is a big factor why he spends so much time in transition offensively.

i'd say ibaka has all the tools and is well on his way to becoming an all-star
