SOONERS HOCKEY RELEASES 2008-2009 SCHEDULE

The University of OklahomaŽ Hockey club has released the 2008-2009 OU Hockey regular season schedule. The Sooners will play 22 home games and 36 games in total during the regular season before heading to the ACHA National Championship Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio in March 2009.

The Sooners finished the 2007-2008 campaign ranked 6th nationally in the American Collegiate Hockey Association's Division 1, OU's highest final ranking in the short five-year history of the Sooners Hockey program. The 2008-2009 schedule will see the Sooners in home-and-home series against No. 2 Lindenwood, No. 4 Liberty, No. 8 Iowa State, No. 21 Central Oklahoma, No. 23 Robert Morris (IL), No. 29 Arizona State and ACHA D2 up-and-comer Texas Tech. In addition, OU will host No. 7 Rhode Island for a pair of games, No. 9 Ohio for a single game as well as weekend series against North Dakota State and ACHA D2 Kansas. With 28 of the 36 scheduled games being against ranked ACHA D1 opponents, the Sooners' schedule is undoubtedly one of the toughest schedules in ACHA D1 this season.

The 2008-2009 OU Hockey season gets underway on the road on September 19th as the Sooners travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to face the No. 4-ranked Liberty Flames. The Sooners will play their first home game on October 3rd as Oklahoma hosts North Dakota State. The entire schedule can be viewed at http://www.ouhockey.com/schedule.html.

All OU Hockey home games are played at the Blazers Ice Centre, 8000 S. I-35, in Oklahoma City. For more information regarding season tickets, please call 405-631-3307.
