There's something weird
in the neighbourhood,
who're you gonna call?
(GHOSTBUSTERS!)
There's something strange
and it don't look good,
who're you gonna call?
(GHOSTBUSTERS!)
Seeing things
running through your head,
who're you gonna call?
(GHOSTBUSTERS!)
Invisible man
sleeping in your bed,
who're you gonna call?
(GHOSTBUSTERS!)
I ain't afraid of no ghost.

Besides calling Ghostbusters, I'm going to have to do something. Buy a home exorcisim kit or something.

Anyone here arrange for a home exorcisim or cleansing ceremony?

Usually Ghosts make great housemates. They don't make much of mess, don't eat your food, don't hog the tv. Noise is really the only issue. I have found that if you ask them to keep it down, I suggest in a respectful way, they will almost always oblige. ywia.

Garlic and mint can repel evil ghosts and restless spirits, including vampires.

"Gozer the Traveler! He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

Seriously, I don’t know what to think. I’ve experienced some strange things over the last two months, like strange noises coming from within the apartment, a smashed mirror, a flipped picture and objects I’ve never seen before being left in the middle of the room.

It was quiet over the last week until Tuesday night and it started again. Noise again in the back bedrooms, but nobody’s there. It’s not all my imagination because the noise freaks my cat out and the cat is used to noise in the apartment above and below.

After checking it out and making sure that nobody is there, I come back into the living room and find a woman’s hairpin in the middle of the floor. Now, the cat may be responsible for dragging that out of somewhere. It is still hard to imagine from where, though. I show the hairpin to Mr. Nope and he is not buying into my ghost theory. He still chunks the hairpin as far as he can out on the street.

I’ve lived in this apartment for 20 years and I’ve never had these types of problems before. Mr. Nope and I will be moving to our new condo unit in the next two months and we have started packing up stuff over the last two months. I get a strong feeling that the ghosts (could be residual karma or my active imagination) do not want us to leave.

And if we have had ghosts, we’ve treated them well. We put out whisky, chocolates and cigars for King Chulalongkorn in a little shrine. For you history buffs, King Chulalongkorn freed Thailand’s slaves and offered to send Abraham Lincoln Thai elephants to fight on the Union side in the Civil War. He is also the young boy and heir to the throne in the play/film “The King and I”. That play/film is still banned in Thailand due to its disrespectful rendering of a Thai monarch. The point is that King Chulalongkorn is venerated in Thailand and it is not uncommon to show respect with a home shrine. It is my way of blending into the culture and showing my respect.

Mr. Nope has his own ghost, a ghost son, who goes by the name Ming Kwan. Ming Kwan goes with him everywhere, so Mr. Nope keeps candy and chocolates in his pickup truck for when they are riding around together.

So back to my current problem of unhappy ghosts, I could invite them to move with us or arrange for a Buddhist home cleansing ceremony. Actually, it is a fairly common ceremony in Thailand. Anytime someone dies in their home, there will most likely be a “moving on” ceremony. We are already planning a new home blessing ceremony, so we can also do a “moving on and moving out” one with little additional costs.

That’s it. I’m sure some of you people will have a much better ghost story.

So, you dedicate a shrine to a dead king's spirit, providing a "gateway" for the other world? Could it be....?

I say dump the shrine.
