View Full Version : How fast is wi-fi?

In the "speech" the other day introducing the G3 Iphone dude says something to the extent of "the g3 will increase speeds x% which is almost as fast as wi-fi"
So my question, isn't wi-fi limited by the internet coneection(cable, dsl, dial up)?

it's still a bit slower than your wired connection, generally

most Wi-Fi connections are limited to 54Mbs/s

i think my broadband connection is only 6Mb/s though (COX)

i thought what i heard from the demo at WWDC that the new iPhone using 3G was about 60% the speed it gets using Wi-Fi

that's still a lot better than EDGE... i've done the Pepsi Challenge on that crap, the difference is pretty big

i'm still waiting to hear about tethering
