I'm so glad someone in the national sports media mentioned that OU was one of the first schools to aggressively recruit black athletes. That often gets ignored when you hear of Oklahoma paying it's players and "Barry Switzer's Sooners Terrorizing Their Campus." *cough*bull$hit*cough* Excuse me.

If it weren't for Langston, OU would have admitted black students before any schools in addition to black athletes. Ah well, history...

I thoroughly enjoed reading up on that, as it was before my time here. Switzer has some fun stories to tell. As a competitior, I'm sure he would do what it took to get a recruiting edge. I especially liked the tidbit on Jack, may he rest in peace :)

That's good stuff. Thanks for posting it. I suspect that there will be more rules every year, even now - coaches will always think of ways to entice players. Gundy's camps in Texas are a good example of that (I think the conference banned them, but I'll give it to them for a good concept).

Stuff like that will always come up. You have to wonder what innovative things we are doing now to get an edge?

I could listen to or read Switzer recruiting stories all day long.

Am I the only one who wonders if the dude who wrote the article, Andy Staples, is a tranny?

That picture is scary.
