View Full Version : Any time this movie comes on, I have to watch it

12 Angry Men

The original version with Henry Fonda. To me, it's one of the best movies ever.

Any others?

I watch it pretty much every time I see it on. What channel?

tbl
6/19/2008, 11:27 PM
MGM-HD. It's 8-4 and they're discussing the woman with the glasses. Great movie... Script, acting, cinematography, lighting, drama... it's almost a perfect movie.

Grumpy and Grumpier old men. For some reason I find it hilarious.

That made AFI's list of top 10 courtroom dramas. I think it was in the top 3. I've never seen it, but it looks really good.

It makes me mad more movies that are classically good are left off tbs and other movie channels.

Give me Bill and Ted, Johnny Be Good, Weird Science, or Can't Buy me Love and I'd watch it everytime.

Blue
6/19/2008, 11:36 PM
My examples won't win any top AFI awards but they're entertaining, damnit. :D

tbl
6/19/2008, 11:37 PM
For some reason, The Fifth Element always gets watched. So does Overboard.

tbl
6/19/2008, 11:38 PM
Hey dude, Weird Science is easily the most underrated of the 80's party flicks. It's actually my favorite from that genre.

Blue
6/19/2008, 11:41 PM
Shamefully I will concede Overboard is watchable anytime its on.

Office Space, Meet The Parents, Captain Ron, War Games, and Crimson Tide even though I have all of them on DVD. Vacation, but only if it's the unedited version. The emasculated version of Clark's rant in Phoenix just isn't worth it.

Twelve Angry Men is a good choice, too, but how often does it come on?

Ike
6/20/2008, 12:11 AM
Major League

Blue

I'll have to watch Captain Ron. I just hate (HATE) Martin Short.

That, too. Some others I just have to watch whenever they're on include "The Blues Brothers," "Animal House," "Kingpin," "The Junction Boys" and the South Park movie.

Forrest Gump is always a good watch.

If you liked "Twelve Angry Men," you should check out a book called "Making Movies" by its director, Sidney Lumet. You will gain a new appreciation for movies in general and that movie in particular. He explains how he used specific camera angles to undercore the closed in feeling toward the end, for example. And how they made it on a really low budget. Plus the book is well written and entertaining

I thought the correct answer was "Road House".

Road House gets gayer each time it's on.

Tombstone is a must watch.
Dirty Dozen is a must watch.
Holy Grail is a must watch.
Shaft is a must watch.

and for some odd reason with me, The Program is a must watch.

now I just need to get a bootleg of it with the road scene back in it.

yeah it amused me the school was 'loosely' based on Florida St.

sometimes it runs on one of the Starz channels every now and then.

I stand by my initial assessment of Rudy.

Guy isn't smart enough to go to Notre Dame. He eventually goes to Junior College with no goal other than to play football, eventually makes it to Notre Dame, and the Domers run up the score on a beaten opponent so that a fourth-stringer can get into the game.

then of course you can't forget the hour every fall that NBC dedicates to the guy who gets on the sideline for a game as an alumni about as often as he played
