One of the toughest interviews on politics apparently had a heart attack. RIP.

He really was good. Always seemed tough but fair, which is unusual these days.

Major suckage. I always woke up on Sundays to his shows.

FWIW, if Katie Couric decides to apply for Tim's MTP gig, I hope they aren't even polite about telling her to GTFO!

How much you wanna bet a certain former CBS anchor is staying real close to the phone? keep dreamin' d00d. We don't need interviews on Sunday morning filled with your goofy down-homisms only you "get." Now, Senator Soandso, you sound like the cat trying to steal the cheese from the mouse, etc. etc. etc. cool:

Well, I honestly haven't even begun to give it a second's thought as to who Russert's replacement might be.

Whoever it is cannot possibly fill his shoes, though. :(

Ugh this really sucks. He was one of the last journalists on tv that I had a ton of respect for. I would try to watch Meet the Press as often as I could, and loved his book Big Russ and Me

RIP Tim and prayers for his family :(

Nah. I don't get the Katie Couric hatred from some people, but she's not enough of a heavyweight for that job.

I think they've been grooming Brian Williams for the job.

Though it'd be cooler if it was the guy who went by Bison Dele Brian Williams. I think he's dead, though.

Or that really mongo-tall guy they have guest on the Today show all the time.

What are the odds that Chris Matthews' agent has already contacted NBC?

Is this the guy who said Obama's speeches made him feel 'a tingling run up his leg'?

Wow, that is sad. MTP was a really good show. It will not be the same (obviously) without him. I doubt anyone will fill his standard.

The thing that I always like about him was he always had the balls to ask the tough questions that very few others in the liberal media would.

I'll hoist one tonite in his honor. Dying on the job must be the succ.

RIP, Russert.

He was sort of from the old school. The comments that no one can fill his shoes is accurate. At least who's out there now.

Could anyone imagine that scowling, snivelling Keith Olberman hosting Meet The Press?

I shouldn't mention Russert and Olberman in the same context.

Russert was the last moderate among the Big 3 networks. He'll be missed by political hacks from both sides.

Olberman couldn't hold Russert's jockstrap.

I always liked him, but knew he leaned a little left at times. Still, as far as the "majors" go among journalists, he was decently fair.

Now that he's gone, I read all of these incredible stories of his philanthropy and just being a great man of faith, father and just a great man... makes you respect the guy a bunch more.

He was a good guy.

This really blows. I really liked the guy, he was the focal point of my Sunday morning ritual.

Just saw this. I loved MTP and his no-nonsense grilling when a grilling was needed. Guy was a hell of an interviewer.

he interviewed like he was conducting direct examination of a witness.

I think he adopted that style intentionally. Quite effective.

I think he adopted that style intentionally. Quite effective.

He was a trained lawyer and I believe that is what gave him the ability to ask the tough questions and wave the BS flag which he could definately do. I just watch two weeks ago and some politician was dancing around trying to avoid giving a straight answer and he verbally slapped and made the guy give an answer. He will be missed. I believe he truly was a patriot and it was interesting last night they showed an interview with him an his father. They were talking about his dad's reaction to seeing his son interviewing the POTUS and his dad calls him after the show saying how come you didn't ask about my social security. :D Way to young to go he was truly a great guy and seemed down to earth I seen him berate a couple of collegues before for giving stupid analysis. He will be missed!!!! :( :(

That's the freakishly tall guy, isn't it?

He should be able to scare people into the truth.
