the girlfriend and I are moving to Oregon later this summer. I got a job out side of portland in construction! and with the baby on the way in november I wanted her to be with her mom and family. We are driving and will be pulling a 12' u-haul. We are looking for some cool places to stop. any one know of cool places to stop on this route?

Crater Lake, Oregon. Bend, Oregon. Both scenic and fun.

The scenery from Russell to Goodland is terrific. That is, if you enjoy absolutely no scenery whatsoever.

Seriously though, the only stretch of highway along that route past Denver that I am familiar with is from Hood River to Portland. You definitely want to check out Multnomah Falls, and make a side trip along the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Byway. Of course, you'll have plenty of time to do all of that while you're living up there and stuff.

You should get a job as a referee. I don't know you, but I'm pretty sure the prestigious PAC 10 is looking for a few.

But if he did that, he wouldn't be able to SEE the sights along the way.

If you haven't been to Yellowstone and/or Grand Teton Nat. Parks, they are on the way, and are truly beautiful areas.

I travel from Washington State to OK about twice a year and try to make a vacation out of it.

My snowboard route is to stay north: WA to OR (Mt. Bachelor), OR to WY(Tetons), WY to UT (Ogden and SLC), UT to CO(Silverthorne), CO to OK. WY is a little outta the way but well worth it.

My summer route is WA to OR (hwy 101), OR to CA (hwy 101/redwoods), cut over to Nevada, head south to Death Valley then Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, then 2 days to drive to OK.

FYI - California has a 55 speed limit on all trailers. Just sayin.

Be sure and stop in at the Papa Johns center in Boise and spray paint "You got VANDALized"

They hate that **** up there.

If you're taking the I 84 route I recommend stopping in Twin Falls, Idaho and Crossing the Gorge to take pictures. It takes about 10 minutes but it's worth the view. There may even be some parachute jumpers on the bridge. If you have time to look around even more you can check out Shoshone Falls which are considered the "Niagara of the west" though they didn't look impressive last time I was out there.
