Like almost everyone else, I expect Big Brown to win the Belmont today, and become the first Triple Crown winner in 30 years. Some will probably try to compare him to the great Secretariat. Not me. Big Red won the Belmont by an amazing 31 lengths, and he ran it, basically by himself the last half of the race, in an incredible 2 minutes, 24 seconds. Big Brown may win, but he won't touch that record.

Big Red stands alone, IMO.

they are worried about something being physically wrong with Big Brown.

to me, they should be worried about the trainer. That guy is doing some serious sweating.

I feel sorry for Big Brown, and Kent, his fine jockey. Looked like the heat, and the mile and a half, were just too much for him, on top of that cracked hoof that limited his training. Winning time was almost 2:30. Just reinforces how special Secretariat really was.

Well, at 1-4 odds, I certainly wouldn't have bet on him.

Won $659 on an Exacta. Bet the field over the two favorites and hoped for an upset.

I think it was actually April 15 the last time they injected him; they used to do it every month on the 15th but skipped last month to prove a point; guess they did

The only thing the 31 links tell you is how weak the field was when Sectretariat won. I'm not saying he wasn't great, just that the 31 links are irrelevant (well they do make for an awesome highlight reel). Now would he have run faster or folded if he had someone pushing we'll never know.

That Jockey has got at least 10-20 million in an offshore account for not sending Big Brown to the post.

IMHO that race today was one of the biggest fixes I can remember since Tyson lost to Douglas.

You must watch the replay because Big Brown just didn't respond when the jockey asked him to. The post race interview confirmed it :D

But, the whole thing makes me go hmmmmmm; i don't ever recall a jockey letting off a horse like that unless the horse was hurt, and as of right now it still seems like the horse was okay
