Harry Hoots is a Chandler, OK World War II veteran who served with the 101st Airborne Division in the ETO. Harry served in the divisional artillery, hence the red piping and red background on the paratrooper patch on his overseas cap.
He was dropped into Normandy in the early hours of June 6, 1944, before the invasion started. He lost several fingers of each hand in a grenade explosion. Harry turned down the VA's offer to cut-off his hands and fit him with hooks. MANNY GAMALLO/Tulsa World
