You must be getting old. The young man with the nice haircut found a "CD" (which is a newfangled record) with some classified information. The balding gentleman with the gun is that "CD"'s proper owner.

More like nightmares.....Oz was more effective as a crime-deterrent than the Scared Straight video in the 70's or the tour of the county jail in high school.

i never could get into Oz

It was actually a very good show with good plots and actors (many of whom are on Lost), but it eventually jumped the shark and threw in the token rape scene in every show for the shock value.....kinda how Dream On had a token topless scene in every episode....none of which I complained about.

So yeah, I just got back from a screening. I had high hopes going in, but it just wasn't that good. No Country for Old Men was better. Big Lebowski was wayy better.

Oh Brother lacked an easily discernible story too, but its still one of my all time favs.

I love me some CBros. IMHO, Fargo may be the best movie outside of the Godfather Trilogy evar.

But Oh Brother followed a group of main characters who were trying to escape from prison. BAR has too many characters that are only related because they all know the CIA agent in some way. Those relationships are the only things that tie the whole thing together, whereas a some kind of centralized plot normally does a better job of that. IMO, it seems to be a series of short films strung together as opposed to a coherent feature-length film.

Sort of like Pulp Fiction?

CrimsonandCreamForever
9/13/2008, 12:56 PM
Kind of, except not. I think Pulp Fiction has more of a story line than BAR. It's non-linear, but it seems better organized.

A gym employee who wants a series of cosmetic surgeries finds a cd of a former CIA analyst's memoirs. Thinking the cd contains secret CIA documents, she attempts to use the documents as leverage to make some money and pay for her surgeries.

or if you want imdb.com's version: "A disk containing the memoirs of a CIA agent ends up in the hands of two unscrupulous gym employees who attempt to sell it."

really? JM was solid, Pitt seemed to overact a bit. Clooney was greasy good.

the movie was awfully slow even for what they were trying to do.

I think "adaptation" is a stretch. I consider it "loosely based on" or "inspired by" Homer's Odyssey.

i agree that pitt was a bit overacting-- i just dont see him as comedy. maybe indirect comedy, coy/smug perhaps. there is something about hearing john malkovich curse that i like. kind of hearing samuel L jackson swearing. there is something poetic and intense about it. those two dont need any word more descriptive than f*ck to say something.

I watched it with some friends on OU/Texas weekend. I liked it. It wasn't great, but I enjoyed it and I'd watch it again. I probably won't buy the DVD though.

I don't see how Pitt could've acted differently in that role. The character he was playing was supposed to be an over-the-top kinda guy, right?

they are following a Best Picture. after No Country and Lebowski there isn't about anywhere to go but down

it's worth seeing, but it's not on the level of some of their other stuff. the cast is good though
