Only Blazing Saddles. The later stuff is tired and lacks edge or revelance.

Okay, the Producers was a bit more updated, but it is still about 30 years late and it would have still been way, way behind Rocky Horror. Young Frankenstein? No where near the picture.

I would prefer watching an episode of South Park over a Mel Brooks movie and I hate South Park.

Wow. We have totally different senses of humor. What's your take on Monty Python?

Wow. We have totally different senses of humor. What's your take on Monty Python?

I love Monty Python. It was pretty hard edge and off the chart wacky at the time. It's clearly dated, but classic.

The same can be said for a lot of British TV comedy shows in the 70s and 80s. The recent stuff, and I get BBC, is just not as funny.

I like funny to have a biting edge. And, by that I mean something that makes fun of ourselves, doesn't take anything too seriously and at the same time is not too offensive. South Park, in my opinion, often crosses that line.

Honestly, I think American TV has improved light years over the PC 70s and 80s. One of my favourite American programmes is "My Name is Earl". I love that show.

Hedley Lamarr: Go do that voodoo that you do so well!

Bart: Mornin', ma'am. And isn't it a lovely mornin'?
Elderly woman: Up yours, ******.

Lili Von Shtupp: [singing] I'm tired of men always coming and going, going and coming - and always too soon.
Lili Von Shtupp: [to the audience] Right, girls?

Taggart: I got it. I got it.
Hedley Lamarr: You do?
Taggart: We'll work up a "Number 6" on 'em.
Hedley Lamarr: "Number 6"? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that one...
Taggart: Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.
Hedley Lamarr: You spare the women?
Taggart: NAW. We rape the **** out of them at the Number 6 Dance later on.
Hedley Lamarr: Marvelous.

Hedley Lamarr: My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Taggart: God darnit, Mr. Lamarr, you use your tongue prettier than a twenty dollar whore.

Charlie: They said you was hung.
Bart: And they was right.

[Lili Von Schtupp offers Bart a gigantic sausage]
Lili Von Shtupp: Would you like another schnitzengruben?
Bart: No, thank you. Fifteen is my limit on schnitzengruben.
Lili Von Shtupp: Well how about a little...
[whispers in his ear]
Bart: [shocked] Baby. I'm not from Havana.

Hedley Lamarr: Qualifications?
Applicant: Rape, murder, arson, and rape.
Hedley Lamarr: You said rape twice.
Applicant: I like rape.

I figured a lot of people were going to pick Blazing Saddles so I decided to go with Spaceballs. Like both movies, but I watched Spaceballs before I saw Blazing Saddles so I gave the props to Barf, Lonestar, Dot Matrix, Dark Helmet, etc.

Also, did Mel Brooks really do the Dracula movie? True story - the other night I was at the Fort Smith rodeo, because I was doing a piece on a bull rider that was retiring that very night. Anyway, over a decade ago he was filmed in a documentary about life on the rodeo circuit. The movie went on to win the award for best documentary at the deadCENTER film festival in OKC last year. Anyway, the director of that movie (whose brother was a bull rider and both attended the rodeo so I got to talk to them, too) also worked on a couple of other movies. One, believe it or not, was the immortal "Showgirls." The other was "Dracula: Dead and Loving It." I never saw that movie, but I knew Leslie Nielsen was in it but I didn't know that Mel Brooks directed it. If I had known, I would have asked the guy what it was like being around Mel. Definitely has to be History of the World.

The Inquisition (what a show)
The Inquisition (here we go)
We know you're wishin' that we'd go away.
But the Inquisition's here and it's here to-
"Hey Toquemada, walk this way."
"I just got back from the Auto-de-fe."
"Auto-de-fe? What's an Auto-de-fe?"
"It's what you oughtn't to do but you do anyway."
Will you convert? "No, no, no, no."
Will you confess? "No, no, no, no."
Will you revert? "No, no, no, no."
Will you say yes? "No, no, no, no!"
Now I asked in a nice way, I said, "Pretty please."
I bent their ears, now I'll work on their knees!
"Hey Toquemada, walk this way. We got a little game that you might wanna play, so pull that handle, try you're luck."
"Who knows, Toq, you might win a buck!"

And why should the people listen to you?
Because, unlike some other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent.

And who might you be?
Oh, they call me Little John. But don't let my name fool you. In real life, I'm very big.
Robin Hood: I'll take your word for it.

Spaceballs was hilarious. When I was 8.

Robin Hood: Men In Tights was hilarious. When I was 16.

Blazing Saddles is one of THE funniest movies ever made, in any era, and is in a completely different class than any other movie on this list. Young Frankenstein and History of the World Part 1 are tied for a slightly distant second, with The Producers following in third.

We watched it again when my father-in-law was here, hr bought a copy the next day to take home with him. It is not just NOT-PC, it is pretty offensive as you stated and hilarious....yep, there is no way anyone would distribute that movie now.
