Good video, Antonio was unstoppable that day. He did have some pretty decent blocking though.

Simply amazing. We need someone to pull this off this season.

Best OU put returner inside the 10-yard line. Kicks usually fall back there.

Not wishing to cause an argument, but really, who would you rather not face back there, AP or "smoke through a keyhole" aka Joe Washington?

Dean Blevins.

there's a 60% chance of a 50% possibility that this response is 36.8% referencing the wrong position.

Little Joe was a great one, he just didn't return very many; i think he had 3 total td's on punt returns

Blast from the past....I believe that Basil Banks led the country in punt returns in the 1977-1978 seasons. But it's hard to argue there's been a better one than Antonio Perkins.

Nope. Its the guy that brings the shot put back after each throw. I worked a few track meets in my day. Pretty sure the official title of my job was put returner :D

:pop:

By the way, doesn't OU hold just about every punt return record in the book?

Highest average punt return (career) - Mitchell
Most punt return TDs (career) - Perkins
Longest punt return ever for a 3 yard loss - Washington

I would rate them 1, 1a, and 1b in no particular order.

I would have to vote for Joe W as well. He was my all time fave Sooner and he would have had more than three if he'd ben given the short-lived "halo rule". There were three Big 12 guys that benefited from that rule- Welker, Perk, and Bloom.
Perk was great until the knee tweak (which was really too bad) after it, he was never the same.
Buster should get some mention too. Perk had it good. Good special teams coaching/execution and a rule that set up long returns for him.

He did one year; think it was actually 79; i remember him busting a long one in the Orange Bowl only to fumble it inside the 10

Good call on the halo rule, that was a huge advantage for a while.

Wasn't Billy Vessels a punt returner?

When Perk had two and UCLA kicked the ball to him AGAIN, they should've asked for a urinalysis from their coach right there on the sideline.

I kinda liked Freddie Nixon when Basil wasn't stealing some of his thunder. :)

The greatest putter in OU history is Kevin Bookout. The only people I can think crazy enough to TRY to return his puts would be Joe Don Looney and Wahoo MacDaniel.

Get it? He's throwing a shot PUT so therefore, he has to return it after throwing it. PUT returner! hahahahaha

 be nice, we all make typos. My real vote is for Antonio Perkins.

Good call on the halo rule, that was a huge advantage for a while.

2002 was the last year of the halo. Perkins did not benefit from the halo rule in 2003 or 2004.
