When does our game start today? Soonersports.com has it at 2, but the gametracker says 4.

Nevermind, game starts at 4. So does anyone know anything about the teams other than ASU?

Vanderbilt was supposed to be really good coming into the year but haven't lived up to expectations. Last year they were beat early even with the top pick in the draft and another pick in the top 5 I believe as their pitchers.

Well, 2 AZ time is now Pacific time. AZ does not change times...half the year at Mountain, a hour behind OK and half the year on Pacific, two hours behind OK. Right now we are Pacific time so that means the 2 o'clock start here locally (I am in AZ) is at 4 in Oklahoma.

Oh, and a special thanks to my workaholic boss who, since he skipped his OWN DAUGHTER playing for ASU softball in OKC, expects me to not be going 15 miles from where I am at to watch OU baseball today.

Hard to tell if they actually used their "ACE". I believe Rafferty usually starts for ASU. In their game vs. Stony Brook, they appeared to be trying to hold him out. But after 4 innings, they were leading by only one run and evidently didn't want to chance it so they brought Rafferty in in relief for 5 innings. Rafferty has the most appearances of all ASU pitchers (32) and his record stands at 12-0. But his inning total stands at 69 total. The guy I wanna see is Mike Leake. He has only 16 appearances BUT in those 16 appearances he has thrown 104.2 innings! His ERA stands at 3.16 while Rafferty follows him at 3.66. Leake's W/L is 9-2. I would question Leake's inning total as a possible typo but the announcers on their radio broadcast last night commented on his stamina which would hopefully help save the bullpen for later in the tourney. The announcers said that Leake would be throwing our game today.

104.2 innings is about 7 innings a start. That is good but reasonable for a pitcher. Andrew Doyle had the same amount of appearances and 99.1 innings.

Rafferty isn't an ace, at least I wouldn't think so. Rafferty is a reliever.

Leake is their ace, but he hasn't been just amazingly dominant. He has been very good but with a 3.18 ERA it isn't like we can't beat him. Our pitcher, Ryan Duke, has a 3.60 ERA. At least I would think we would be pitching Duke.

The odds are against us winning, but we already knew that. The odds have been against us the last 5 games and we should have won all 5 of them.

We would have to win 3 more games. Chances are extremely good that whoever wins this game will win the regional. We would have to beat the Stony Brook/Vanderbilt winner and then beat ASU twice. Look, it basically doesn't ever happen. With McCarter it was a one time thing and it took about 5 words. Nobody replied to it except you and if you hadn't said anything nobody would remember it. Once again a fielding error causes problems early for OU's starting pitcher. This is a reoccurring theme for the Sooners this season. Duke needs to shake it off and buckle down. It's an awful feeling for a pitcher not to be able to trust his defense.

Oh I agree, it's just a bit difficult to remain optimistic when the team is getting beat down like this. Especially knowing that we will have to beat Vanderbilt again just to earn the right to try sweeping two games from the team that just spanked us so hard. It's a daunting task. But then again I have seen my Sooners pull off more improbable things in the past.
