What are the odds a preseason mag could correctly call a bowl game matchup besides USUC vs a Big 10 team in the Rose Bowl? In the unlikely event it does happen, it gives the Sooners an opportunity to even the series.

I'll take another Big12 championship, honestly. NCs come once in a blue moon, but if we can dominate the conference, that makes the task so much easier.

I don't know if I'm seeing something different in Texas, but I don't see them finishing in the top 15.

And Sam has a lot of proving to do after Kelly left...

I know what he'll do!

1- Take steroids.
2- Get puffy face.
3- Roid rage on sidelines and on bigger, stronger opposing players.
4- HEAD PANTIE!
5- Heisman finalist?!?!?
6- Cotton Bowl.

Mizzou, the Cotton Bowl is your destination, much like Texas has their Holiday Bowl. Learn it, live it, love it :D

Bold prediction.

Chase Daniel never plays a down in the NFL

NormanPride
5/28/2008, 11:16 AM
That is pretty bold... He's short, but not too short. He's got the arm and the accuracy, and he seems to be able to read a defense well. His attitude is terrible and he's a primadonna, but when has that ever stopped the NFL?

If anything, I'd guess a steroid scandal would prevent him from playing.

Chase Daniels is the first person since Chris Simms that I dislike yet have never met. His demeanor just screams "bitch"

stoops the eternal pimp
5/28/2008, 06:25 PM
What's the deal behind that? "System QB" syndrome?

1. size. Huge deal..See virtually unheard of Joe Flacco before the Combine. Daniel would most likely struggle in an offense were you line up under center 80 percent of the time.

2. offense. Mizzou offense is not a pro style offense with fewer reads and relying a lot on the spread. NFL peeps want QBs out of a pro style offense.(Matt Ryan)

3. arm strength. Still not sure where he is on that. Once again its not about how far a guy can throw it but what does it take for him to get it there. This offense is a lot of dinks and dunks so he would need a good Senior Bowl/Combine to move into a drafted qb.

Collier11
5/28/2008, 08:29 PM

Gil Brandt has Daniel as the #1 rated SR qb in the country, Brandt is a pretty good football guy

I don't know... I hate "booger" as much as the next guy...

But his attitude and the way he slings the ball around reminds me a bunch of this guy minus 3 or 4 inches:

stoops the eternal pimp
5/29/2008, 08:43 AM
Gil Brandt has Daniel as the #1 rated SR qb in the country, Brandt is a pretty good football guy

I went to look at Brandt's list because I would be shocked if Brandt thought Daniel was the best NFL prospect....But it seems its more a list of top senior College quarterbacks than a top NFL qb prospect list..And BTW, next year's crop of senior qbs is weak..If a qb was gonna leave early, next season would be the time to go..His list. I would say there is a huge difference between Jeff George and Chase Daniel in the arm strength area. slinging the ball around 10-15 yards and a guy who can do it 30-40 yards without changing his footwork or his arm motion are two different things

Quarterbacks

Chase Daniel, Missouri (6-0, 220):

Graham Harrell, Texas Tech (6-2 ½, 205):

Curtis Painter, Purdue (6-3 ½, 225):
Patrick White, West Virginia (6-1 ½, 190):

John Parker Wilson, Alabama (6-2, 210):

goingoneight
5/29/2008, 09:27 PM
Chase Daniel has no experience in a pro-style offense and the only decent defenses he's played in his career figured him out at the half each time. Look, I know 12-2 looks nice and all... but I just don't see why anyone, espcecially Sooners are all that impressed by Mizzou's offense. It's a dime-a-dozen spread offense with terrible play-fakes. A slight drop in defensive performance could easily make Mizzou... well... Mizzou again.

Mizzou and Kansas need to follow up and prove their worth against quality opponents still IMO. But that's fine, because to a certain extent, we still do also. I can see both of them losing to Texass next year and I think we'll pwn KU in Nompton.
