in the fourth game against TCU?OU would need to average 57 points a game to achieve this.To crack the 30,00 point mark by game 5(Baylor) We need to average 45.6ppg.To do so by game 6(UT) wee need to score 38 ppg.

Personally I think we will do it by the 5th game;as we return almost all OUr offense.

For those who are unaware OU is the all-time scoring leader in D-1 football with 29,762 points. That averages out to 26.4 ppg for the1127 games in OUr history. We also rank 6th in fewest points allowed in NCAA history(among teams with at least 1000 games played).

Assuming:
1) No huddle offense
2) Sam is Sam
3) Stoops let's Sam and the boys play full out for all four quarters

Sometime early in game two is well within reach.

Realistically, you're right: Game 5.

Someone back in jr. high once suggested that Brett Favre should throw a pass to Reggie White for a touchdown... you know, because those were the only players he knew the names of and wanted to sound like a kn0wer ab0uter.

Wow, did people laugh at him :D:D:D:D

Therefore, I'm going to repeat such amusings, and say that our 30,000th point will be from the following:

1- Trey DiCarlo with a goal kick through the up lefts
2- Spammin' Sam Bradford throwing to Roy Williams for the extra point
3- Heisman winner Adrian Peterson passing to Heisman winner Jason White for the down touch
4- A boney ninja assassin running it in for the two point safety conversion
5- Duke Robinson intercepts the fumble to run it into the endcaps.

:D

well since they don't let me call the plays i will guess that it will be Murray off tackle from about 8-15 yards out.

Besides Oklahoma, only Michigan and Nebraska have scored over 29,000 points. In the middle of the season, Oklahoma will be the first to have have scored over 30,000 points.

come on guys, stoops has been here 10 years and some of you still dont know him?

bob has never used revenge for motivation. he doesnt run up scores out of anger. never has. never will. hes got his Sooners playing the way they should. offense is perfect, defense is getting more comfortable every week. no need in going off course for personal emotional gains. it wont be necessary. Sooners can get those points without revenge.

I respect stoopified's and Soonerdood's disagreements. I remember all those games well, and all the extracurricular that went on before those games. I dont doubt Stoops gave a big ol F bomb to those who do disrespect OU like that. However, I realize this is just my opinion, and I have absolutley no clue what Bob thinks. I have this feeling that those were years past. I havent heard any bulletin board stuff from tcu even back then after they won. I think the rhythym Bob has OU in right now, it would not be a good idea to approach this game or any other with a different attitude than they've already been doing this year. Especially after this last road win. We're very business-like right now, with major attitude already. I'm afraid that might be ruined with another kind of approach.

Believe me I'm all for puttin up 80 on these horny toads. I'm pretty sure its in the back of Bob's mind no doubt, but dont think he would use it as this weeks battle cry. He may have, but I dont think he gave his players that kind of speak before osu in 03, or colorado's "mulligan" crap. I dont know cause I wasnt in that locker room. I keep hearing Bob say "thats for the fans" kind of thing. who knows. but i'm sure he threw revenge out there as it was happening.

all i know now is that OU is rolling "in a big way". Bob knows what he's doing, thats why hes there. Im just a fan speculating.

I would add OU v. Texas A&M 1999 to the list. Thatīs when we just blew Slow-cum and the Ags out with trick plays right and left.

Big mouth Slocum had made some derogatory comments regarding the Sooner players after blowing us out in previous games, and Stoops made it abundantly clear that he did not like that -- even though he wasnīt even the coach at the time.

Stoops really strongly believes in a high level of professionalism from fellow coaches. I guess he got this from his father, but listen to what Stoops says when he loses. He gives props to the opponent and doesnīt make excuses.

When others brag or insult OU, he marks it in his little book and takes them down next chance he gets.

My guess is that USC is now at the very top of that little book, and probably has a whole page for themselves.

My hope is that Bob gets to redeem that little book long about January, 2009.

According to the sports department of the Oklahoman,we are at 29,990 points after the Baylor game.According to my figures we are at 30,020 points.According to the official OU website we had scored 29,772 points coming into this season. That means we needed to score 228 points to break 30,000.After 5 games we are averaging 49.6 ppg,a total of 248 points. Now way back when I was in school that added up to 30,020 not 29,990.Is there swome new math that the DO writers are using that I am unaware of?

It appears the confusion was caused because our points total was never updated after the TCU game with the official website.

Game notes before the TCU game:
http://www.soonersports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/092608aaa.html

Game notes before Baylor:

Nearing 30,000 Points
By points, Oklahoma is the highest scoring program in the history of college football. In 1,130 games, the Sooners have scored 29,941 points, an average of 26.5 per game. Chasing the Sooners are Michigan with 29,407 points in 1,197 games and Nebraska with 29,231 in 1,193.

They both have the same entry, omitting the 35 scored against TCU. If you add 49 to 29941 you get 29990, falling 10 short. The Baylor entry should have read 29976, and we now have 30025. I'm betting ESPN went by this info.

The 29941 figure leading up to the TCU game is consistent with the 29777 figure at the beginning of the season.

Soonerstats.com now shows OU with 30,024 all-time points. Since this is the exhaustive, most complete database of SOONER history, then I'm good with it.
