View Full Version : Roger Clemens: Worst Apology Ever?

In his first public comments since he was linked to an extramarital affair, the former New York Yankees pitcher issued a statement to the Houston Chronicle that did not detail what those mistakes were.

Roger Clemens

Clemens

Clemens did take the opportunity to deny that he had an affair with country singer Mindy McCready, as was reported by the New York Daily News. He also said that he had not taken performance-enhancing drugs.

"I know that many people want to know what I have to say about the recent articles in the media," Clemens said in the statement. "Even though these articles contain many false accusations and mistakes, I need to say that I have made mistakes in my personal life for which I am sorry. I have apologized to my family and apologize to my fans. Like everyone, I have flaws. I have sometimes made choices which have not been right."

When looking back to the first accusations of steroid use, does anyone want a do-over more than Clemens. He goes the Pettite route, and none of this probably comes out.

Nope. In fact they're all part of an Illuminati type cult, hell bent on the destruction of Western Civilization.

...Seriously?

The same Red McCombs who owned three professional sports franchises, who built his financial empire after having to initially drop out of UT to sell cars to make ends meet, who gave a Fifty Million dollar donation to UT and who annually contributes more than one million dollars per year to various charities? That Red McCombs?

Michael Dell

Didn't he drop out of UT?

David Geffen

Figures. The record industry is pure evil.

Gary Kelley (CEO of Southwest Airlines)

He's probably the one that killed the mandatory inspections.

Angus G. Wynne (founder of 6 Flags)

Which was bought out by an Oklahoma company.

William J. Bennett (former Secretary of Education)

And current hypocrite and semi-*********.

The more he talks, the less people believe him. Way for ole Roger to be non-committal on his transgressions. I guess he can go play a game of non-committal drop the soap with Mark McGwire, they can "not be here to talk about the past, but to talk about the future".

His role in Grand Prix earns him a permanent place in my hall of fame... starts out driving a Lotus... crashes the number one driver on the Lotus team causing him severe injuries... bags the dude's wife while he is recuperating... gets canned by the Lotus team... gets a ride with the Japanese team on the F1 circuit.. dumps the crashed dude's wife... wins the Formula One championship.

Greatness.

She obtained two undergrad degrees from UT in he 1930s, one with honors, the other cum laude.... and this was at a time when women were not routinely admitted into universities as they are now.

She purchased a radio station in 1943, served as President of LBJ Holding Co., then bought a television station (which turned into the CBS affiliate in Austin) in 1952. Her investment of $41,000 in these ventures, resulted in approximately $150 million for her company.

In D.C., she started the Capital Beautification Program and promoted the Highway Beautification Act.

She was the first, First Lady with her own press secretary, chief of staff and liaison with Congress.

She served on the Board of Regents for UT for 7 years, and was the first woman to serve on the National Geographic's Board of Trustees.

She assisted in raising $10 million and then founded the National Wildflower Research Center.

She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal.

She was so far ahead of her time.

As a matter of fact.. the story goes...

Frank Erwin was a member of the Texas Board of Regents, which oversees the eight campuses of the state university, from 1962 to '75 and was chairman for five of those years. Erwin exercised control over all aspects of the University of Texas at Austin's affairs. In 1968 he pushed through a $15 million plan to expand Belmont Hall, the complex of athletic offices built into the side of Memorial Stadium. But a group of students and activists objected because the plans called for razing a row of beautiful old trees. While protesters clung to the branches, awaiting a judge's order that would have stayed the tree-cutting, Erwin personally directed construction workers to topple the trees with chain saws. The judge's order arrived 45 minutes after the job was done.

Life was so much easier back then.
