Best Defensive Backfield?

I'll have to go with the year 2000. Two Thorpe award winners in Strait and TRRW with Michael Thompson Ontei Jones, J.T. Thatcher. I can't think of another group with so much talent. Thompson could have been another Thorpe award winner if not for the wreck.

Strait and TRRW are two of my all-time favorites, but its hard to beat the depth of secondary talent that we had in the 1974-1975 time frame:

Zac Henderson
Scott Hill
Terry Peters
Randy Hughes

I do agree, it will be a great secondary this fall.I am a huge ou memorbilia collector and know a lot of the players personally. Everyone mentions Roy Williams when it comes to the secondary legends.I was at Tommie Harris's charity event the other day and Roy was a jerk! He thought he was so much better than anyone. besides him every other one there was awesome!

I don't think I can put Thatcher, Jones, and Everage over Pool, Nicholson, and Everage. I don't even think I can put the 2000 group over '01.

I gotta go with 2001 with Rumph,Lewis,Buchanon and Reed. They were better than some NFL backfields,where all eventually wound up playing.

I understand what you are saying, but he year 2000 we also had Roy Williams and Michael Thompson and Thompson was awesome as a freshman. He could've went on to win the Thorpe just like Stait and TRRW.
