It's widely assumed that peanut butter originally started out as a product called "Processed Rat Poop" and manufacturers began adding peanuts in as the public's acceptance level of ingesting rat poop declined in the early part of the 20th Century.

Chocolate, a staple of the female's hormonal requirements around 4 P.M. each day, contains the same parts per billion as peanut butter.

Sorry to have to report this.

the market should decide. ant, roaches, peanuts...it's all the same butter. anything else is socialism.

all brands have to meet the same requirements by the FDA

The FDA's action level for peanut butter is 30 or more insect fragments or one or more rodent hairs per 100 grams.

I'd like some with no parts in it please.

Can't any of them guarantee that?

Humans ate all sorts of bug parts and rat hairs for millenia and did just fine. Don't be a sally about some bug parts.

Or line the FDA's pocket with a nice amount of cold hard cash.

if I had to venture a guess, I'd say Peter Pan. with their scandal, they had to make things really clean before starting up production again.

I can't help it, man. I love peanut butter. Absolutely love it. But every time I eat it now, I can't help but think of what I read in Maxim magazine about bug parts in peanut butter. I read this, like, 10 years ago, and it still disturbs me today.

I hate anything with more than 4 legs.

I don't want to think about this anymore.

It's time to move on.

flour has bugs in it. probably ground up so you can't see, though. And a LOT of stuff is made with flour. same goes for other grains and corn and stuff.

So basically when you go through a drive-thru and buy something at a 500% markup you not only have trace amounts of ball sweat and floor dirt from the guy who scratches himself and drops your burger on the floor but you also have to deal with rat hairs and bug parts from the manufacturer. Awesome.

Apparently in pasta too.

I went crazy last year stocking up on food when I got scared about the potential bird flu pandemic.

I should have been more concerned about the weevils. One of the packages of shell pasta was completely inflated. And, the weevils had their own little weevil city going on. I'm not sure what inflated the bag so much whether it was weevil farts or green house gases or maybe something else.

Anyway, my point is that since the package was apparently so air tight, the little weevil eggs were already there and ready to hatch.

Choosy mothers choose Jiff

Less choosy mothers go to dives where they pick-up quadruple divorcees and have drunken secks in the parking lot while leaning against the side of a car.

I don't care how much insect is in my peanut butter, as long as it's extra crunchy. Smooth peanut butter is the gay.
