I haven't seen any new info posted on here and I was wanting to know what the latest is. I had heard a rumor it may possibly get dropped to a lesser charge. Any info would be nice.

He's apparently on track to qualify via online classes and the charges are rumored to be dropped.

I thought JJ fell off the face of the earth.

If the charges are dropped it is clearly a case of the charges being a lot worse than the actual behavior. Playing with a friends gun although stupid doesn't really carry criminal intent like they charged him with.

I hope that his story is the case and the charges are dropped. It is absolutely stupid, but if it isn't his gun and he was just playing with it- should be a lessor charge criminally but not in stupidity.

I heard Big Al and Pat Jones talking to Merv Johnson today and they said Jarboe would find out whether or not they would be misdemeanor charges. Anybody know a date on that?

The case is still open and there is nothing scheduled in the near future.

Great news. Sounds like the kid has a lot of people who believe in him and went to bat for him - even from the school. I think that tends to tell the story that it was just a kid being stupid rather than a serial thug.

Time will tell the story. I would think that if those administrators and character witnesses could sway the minds of a judge to give a probationary period, that Stoops & Co. will be moved accordingly to give JJ a chance . . . and a very tight leish. Let's hope he makes the best of the second chance.

He looks like he could come in and contribute right away; but my guess is that he "goofed" his way into a red-shirt unless he proves to be a really special talent. The team has too much to lose to start giving playing time to a kid who, with one small slip-up, could get kicked off the team and demoralize everyone. 2008 is not the year to be taking those kinds of risks, if any. For my part, I certainly hope they let him get through the first half of his probation and put him on the field next year if he proves to be reliable both athletically and personally.

Stoops says he expects him in Norman:
