Malcolm apparently knew what he was talking about as he ran much faster today.

I knew I wasn't that much faster than him.

All depends on who's holding the stop watch.

He also ran a 4.61 and wasn't that on astroturf.

was this on astro-turf or field turf? great reporting, as always by the DOK

Shocking, he ran faster on Astro-turf. ;)

They'll add to his 4.46, but it'll still be better than the 4.68 on field turf.

Astro, or the equivalent, in the Mosier complex.

If he would have just went out and done this w/o crying, no one would care about his slow times earlier

I can't blame him. he was frustrated and venting. it'll be awight.

How much time is added for running on a 'fast surface'?

I think Brady Quin lost 10 Million going from 3rd to 23 in the first round - not for nothing but in reality he should have known the pro day was going to be in the fieldhouse and not on the Astro turf - for practice purposes.

Was he whining - yes but understandly now.... that is a lot of money at stake and there is no reason why OU can't look out for the players a bit more. It helps recruiting to have guys go in the first round that is for sure.

40 time is probably the most important drill unfortunately for pro scouts.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, it was the SCOUTS that requested that timing take place on grass, not astroturf, and OU was informed of the request on the day of trials.

What, did they let him run outside "with the wind" today? ;)

WHats funny is that when I was in high school, you ran a 40 with football cleats on the grass; Now these guys are on tracks with spikes and spandex on. There were football players on my team that I could burn in a 40 every single time, but they were better football players than I were. Kelly is a good football player, and just seeing him get underthrown on all those deep balls should make the scouts less concerned with his 40 time.

The best 40 times were in the movie "I'm gonna git you sucka" when the kids ran with a TV under their arm and after the starter, who was a cop shot the starting gun, he pointed it towards them.

Wayans are cool.

I've heard from a few sources that the training staff did their share of screwing up on this one, so it's good to see that OU did the right thing by getting another pro day set up. I feel bad for MK, but at the same time I wish he had been a bit more mature with his handling of the press. It would have been better for everyone involved.

Here's hoping that these new times earn Malcolm a few extra millions. :D

They just reported on the radio that his times were 4.69 and 4.63 today and it wasn't on astroturf it was on a track surface.

After the controversy surrounding last week's pro day at the University of Oklahoma, Sooners wide receiver Malcolm Kelly had another workout Wednesday afternoon in Norman.

After complaining last week about the way the workout was conducted, Kelly ran this time on what the scouts considered to be a fast track -- and he posted similar numbers to those he ran last week.

Three NFL teams were on hand -- Cleveland, Green Bay and the New York Giants. Once again, he caught passes from former Nebraska quarterback Eric Crouch.

» WR Malcolm Kelly (6-3 7/8, 225): Ran the 40 in 4.63 and 4.65, had a 4.15 short shuttle, 6.83 cone drill, had 14 reps in the bench press and once again looked good catching the ball. Crouch threw him 22 "catchable" passes, and Kelly caught all but one.

I'm guessing those are the track adjusted numbers. Still better, but not great.'

To me this slips him from Buffalo at 12 to Washington at 21.

Does Malcom realize he'll have to play on grass this fall?

MojoRisen

I know the scouts requested it, but OU should be qualifying that sort of thing. It is a big deal for our guys to show good - in the future they can practice in the FeildHouse - and work on Technique -

44 on any surface is FASSSST enough

He needs to slip to 22 and Dallas.

Those aren't the track adjusted numbers. Thats the numbers he ran so if you do adjust the numbers its in the mid 4.7s.

His agent released the 4.46 stuff to the AP press, misspelling Malcolm's name in it. I don't know what MK was thinking in selecting this guy as his agent but he sounds shady..

There is numerous articles in papers saying he ran a 4.46 "according to agent Chad Speck".

of all people, why do they have an option QB throwing him "catchable" passes. Catchable from Crouch and catchable from Manning are two different things!

stoops the eternal pimp
4/17/2008, 09:55 AM
rumor is that Green Bay was there more to see Crouch than Kelly

soonerfan28
4/17/2008, 10:35 AM
Hasn't Crouch had time now to become a better QB, since he's no longer running the option. I liked this guy except for that game in '01.

4/17/2008, 11:01 AM
Yeah...If he throws that many catchable passes in a drill, he definitely has improved
