Because she's a major part of a show that's been a consistent ratings leader for the last several years.

I think that Americans in general have a soft spot for those who are mentally challenged or who have physical disabilities, and she certainly fits the bill.

she was hawt in the 80's and 90's, now she's on Idol

i think the world might be a better place if she was hit by a bus with Seacrest, Randy, Simon and whoever has been deciding programming on Fox the last few years

The fact that she was also a Laker Girl at one time helped her Q rating as well.

Ding Ding Ding. It is funny to see her come up with somethinng good no matter how bad the performance was.

Everything that was mentioned (except Fireman's comment), plus she's got an album coming out later this year.

Don't forget Seacrest's fetish for French pedicures and high heels. Now the circle is complete. ;)

This thread is worthless without pics.

srsly

I would put paula in the cute and not necessarily hot category. Like her voice, her looks went through a lot of "correction".

Sadly, I think a lot of people care. So many average people seem to be enamored with their average counterparts that "made it big". They love to see them crash and they love to see them rise up again from the ashes. It's sort of a way that the lowest common denominator has risen up to the middle ground to latch onto the painfully average. Average pop stars, average president, and an average overall populace because they refuse to latch onto anything aspirational that doesn't come with 22" rims. Idiocracy (for the crap that it was) seems to be coming true.

oh, it's totally not that far off :D

that would have been a great Simpsons or Futurama episode, but WAY too long for a whole movie.
