Looks a little off to me,UT #1 in basketball?I like Barnes and UT should be good BUT I don't see #1.ND,Miami,Davidson,ASU seem a little overrated as well.On the other hand Duke,Louisville,Florida seem a little low for a preseason poll,I know they lost players BUT look at the recruits they get year in,year out. OU is rated about where I hope they deserve to be.

Too early to rank next years teams as it is unclear who is actually going to be on campus for the top teams.

I def see UT #1 if Augustin comes back...but I have some doubts about that.

I'd agree with that. Augustine is probably the difference between a top 5 team and a top 15 team.

16 is probably about right for us.

Duke only lost 1 starter. I don't see Texas #1 next year. They will be good but they play in a conference with us and Kansas and you know they'll lose a couple of strarters. I also don't see Memphis #9 unless they play a weak nonconference and return Rose and CDR. Dorsey is a senior.

I think CDR should stay although I'm not sure if he will. If he comes back they will basically have everybody except for Dorsey and Rose. Those are two pretty good players but as good as Dorsey was, he couldn't score. They have a new guy coming in named Angel Garcia who is supposed to be pretty good and with what he could contribute on offense it might not be much of a downgrade. Maybe not a downgrade at all.

If they keep CDR and are able to sign Tyreke Evans I would pick them to be even better next year and that's saying a lot too because I still think they were the best team in the nation last year.

If they lost CDR and got Evans and Ebanks they could still be as good as they were last year. If they kept CDR and got Evans and Ebanks, uh-oh. Luckily the chances of all three of those things happening are slim to none, but I think two of them will probably happen and that's definately a top 10 team.

Yeah, but they still don't have a post player. If they can sign John Riek they will probably be pretty darn good and probably would get a #1 seed. However, if they don't get a post I don't see them doing any better.

This is what my top 15 would look like. There are definately some holes in it and I had to assume somet things that won't all happen.

1. North Carolina
2. Memphis
3. Kansas
4. Pittsburgh
5. Duke
6. Ohio State
7. USC
8. Oklahoma
9. Texas
10. Louisville
11. Arizona
12. Connecticut
13. Florida
14. Tennessee
15. Georgetown

Yeah, I know. It was really hard trying to rank the teams.

Yeah. Really we just need to wait until after the deadline for players to declare. There is a HUGE difference between Texas with Augustin than without.

This kind of stuff is just for fun.

It doesn't mean anything.

Agreed. I remember when CBS Sportsline had us as the preseason No. 1 favorite for 2005-06, but that was before the offseason moves, notably Drew Lavender going to Xavier. I'll get a better idea of what the team's going to be like come November.

historically speaking, dealing rationally with expectations and high pre-season rankings is what makes our hoops fan base so great.

Texas has a history of guards leaving early (Gibson, Ford), so I would say that Augustine is gone and they are not going to be quite the same as this year.
