LSU quarterback returning after long suspension

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux will miss Saturday's spring game, then will be back as a member of the team the following day.
University spokesman Michael Bonnette said Friday that Perrilloux will accompany the team next week to the White House to accept congratulations from President Bush for the national championship.

Coach Les Miles suspended Perrilloux in mid-February after he missed a team meeting, skipped some classes and was late for a handful of conditioning workouts. Perrilloux had to meet academic requirements as well as do extra conditioning work.

Miles said Perrilloux was not allowed to practice this week and will not play on Saturday. Miles said he made that decision out of fairness to Perrilloux and the quarterbacks who have split time with the No. 1 offense this spring — redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee and junior Andrew Hatch.

This will come back to bite lester. Perrilloux will end up blowing it and committing an NCAA violation or something. Although, is LSWHO? on the NCAA exempt list with SUC?

My comment, which somehow appeared below the signature line, was referring to that paragraph.

"Because they can't pin the tag 'Doesn't win the big one any more' on him". See Mack Brown, 2006.

We've never pinned that on Less Smiles.

Obviously, the guy wasn't going to win any championships at OSU - NOBODY is gonna win championships at OSU.

But he CLEARLY had no trouble winning the big game from time to time (the OU game being the biggest of his season).

Miles problem is the little games & consistency. Always was. His record at OSU was mediocre, which I guess means he was a competent coach (since it's a mediocre school).

At LSU he has inherited an arse-kicking program -- and, under him, it has kicked arse fairly well. Basically, he seems a pretty decent steward, really.

But, honestly, with the talent he's had -- you know, in your heart of hearts, it frightens you a bit that you're stuck with him for the rest of time.

And you also know that he's waaaaaaaaaaaay overpaid, based on his ability as a coach.

There are at least a dozen, possibly two or three dozen, coaches who could've coached to a national championship at LSU since Saban left. Really all they would have to do is not completely fudge things up. Once you lock up top-tier recruiting in Louisiana, you've got most of what you need to be in the hunt every season.

Problem is, other than Dinardo, who actively tried to turn the locker room into some bizarre racial battlefield, few coaches prior to Saban locked down the in-state recruiting game.
