Weve had some really good pitching by some of the young guys: Ebern, Rocha, blue, etc...but getting him back will make us a legit contender in the conf., anyone know about his availability?

He won't be back this season unfortunetly.

NORMAN, Okla. - Junior right-handed pitcher Stephen Porlier, who missed the first four weeks of the season with inflammation in his throwing shoulder, underwent successful surgery on Thursday, March 13 to repair a partial tear in the labrum in his right shoulder. Porlier will miss the rest of the 2008 season and is expected to begin his rehabilitation immediately.

"I want to commend the doctors and Stephen's family in handling this situation in an efficient manner," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. "The surgery was successful and Stephen is expected to make a full recovery. We look forward to having him back for next season."

The Sugarland, Texas, native was 7-5 last season and led the team with 99 strikeouts in 99 innings pitched. Porlier was named a second team All-Big 12 selection after pitching most of the season as the Sooners' No. 1 starter.
