I have no idea why people fixated so much on the 30GB vs. 50GB deal. 30GB was plenty of space for a feature-length film at a bitrate where current codecs showed no discernable improvement by upping the bitrate.

That being said, Beta was a far more successful format than HD DVD. It was in widespread commercial use until just a bit ago.
