good-bye to the old Denon. only the second amp i've had since my original Yamaha champ i bought from Gramophone on Campus Corner. best money i ever spent was that Yamaha amp/receiver, turntable, cassette player and two JBL speakers when i was an 8th grader at Norman's own Whittier Middle School. 15 years almost out of that system. my mom still uses the turntable and the JBL's are in the original box and still rock the party.

the Denon was nice (powerful), but a little fritzy. but, my hat's off to it's great service to the overall music project.

i have to say it's funny that what used to be called "mic jack" is now "digital media player outlet". an old yawner of a feature repackaged as a "must have".

Marshall McLuhan was pretty smart guy.

no. i don't expect many responses here.

Obama is a racist commie islam-o-fascist. he wants to turn your virtuous women into succubi with his 3 pronged devil penis.

in my opinion, this noise, Butthole Surfers inflected Lips was their second best ignored period.

Priest is truly awesome. if it came out today, with the legitmiacy granted to the Lips as genuine artistic weirdos, it would kill.

New Acoustic Dimension.

I still have a NAD DVD player I paid too much for right before Progressive Scan became available.

Heh. This thread reads much like a thread might read if I were a stereo geek. Nice one, KC.

Oh, and I agree about Priest Driven. Probably the best album they ever did. But you need to open you mind to some of the stuff that happened with and after Zaireeka. I know some people like you who are a little bitter about the radical change in sound, but I look at it more like a different band, also great. Seriously, The Soft Bulletin is one of the top ten "rock" albums of the past 10 years, IMO. Guitars be damned.

I bought some sweet gear back innaday at Gramophone. I had a solid Technics receiver/amp that lasted until psycho ex dumped it onto the floor. I think I also got a really nice turntable there back in 83.

That little rent house on Pickard (just off Boyd) saw some blow outs. What a waste of time.

i used to have a sweet gramophone t-shirt circa the Whittier years. i think it was chocolate brown, some good lookin' T.

when that guy moved his store from Campus Corner out to Brookhaven, he started renting videos and selling CD's. bought my first CD player out there (also Yamaha). i bought a bunch of stuff out there, my "discover" the Stones and Bob Dylan records phase was largely gramophone funded.

****ing hell, Beggar's Banquet, Exile, Sticky Fingers, and Bringing it all Back Home.....rocked my world.

edit: Blonde on Blonde, hell ya.

*the whole photo montage in this vid is a bit disingenuous since the original members of the band who cut this record with Anton are all excluded.

Speaking of vinyl, I gotta go get Fleetwood Mac on vinyl. I am feeling wistfully nostalgic the past week. Need it on vinyl.
