Spent spring break visiting my aunt and uncle who live about an hour outside of St. Louis and about 5 miles from the Meramec River. Here are a few pictures I took of the river:

Standing on the edge of the bridge, the mound of grass you see down the road is the other side of the bridge

On the bridge, the channel of water between the trees is where the river usually is

All this is flood water

This is by Meramec State Park outside of Sullivan, MO

Went back later in the evening, the water had gone down a few feet

In St. Louis the Mississippi River had tons of debris in it and was pretty high itself

Unrelated picture: While at the C-USA Tournament a week ago, we stopped at a KFC for lunch and I picked up quite possibly the biggest bucket of cola ever.

Dude, the Coastal stations here in town used to do 64 oz. drinks. That's right, a full gallon. ;) Well, until they all went under.

My m-i-l is from Sullivan. She used to have a farm on the Meramec River. During the Carter Administration, they proposed building a dam on the Meramec which would have put the farm under water. Funding fell through.
