But seriously, how would the SO hurt recruiting? I could see an argument that the sports/recruiting forums might have an impact on recruiting, but the SO?

Unless you're thinking parents might get on the board and be turned off by political/social commentary as espoused by Sooner fans, but wouldn't it probably be about the same with any school? Plus, wouldn't most parents be discerning enough to know that most of the people posting here have no connection to the university other than that a number of us went to school at OU, and most of us cheer the school on in some way in sporting events?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. But it is an interesting question... ...if applied to the sports boards.

On the Sports Boards I try to post with the idea that current players and/or recruits may actually read this stuff...

Haha, unlike some people, potential recruits prolly have real lives of some kind.

Well, I wasn't a highly-recruited athlete in HS, nor did we have teh innerwebs, but if I try to put myself in their position, there's little doubt in my mind that I would be checking out the fan/recruiting boards of the schools that were in on me, just to see if I was mentioned, and to see what people thought of me. Those kids are human beings, like everybody else.
