Tulsa won their opening round CBI game over Miami (OH), 61-45 at the RenCen. They advance to the Not Quite So Elite Eight to take on the winner of the UTEP/Utah game currently in progress. If UTEP wins, the game will most likely be in El Paso; if Utah wins, Tulsa will have the chance to host their second round game for the low, low cost of another $60,000. :D

Well, if you're gonna be in the crappy new third tourney, the least you can do is win your first game.

This kind of backs up my whole "aggy and TU should have traded tournaments" theory. :D

And Utah knocked off UTEP by 12, so now all Bubba has to do is cut another $60,000 check and we get another home game! :D

OSU is now 4th in the state for basketball. They might even be the most talented. Man, I'm kinda starting to like Sutton.

As much as I hate aggy, I'd probably still give them the edge over Tulsa if they played.

I've gotta say, as sketchy as this CBI sounds, I kind of like the setup: 16 teams, split into four regions. Higher seeds host first and second round games (after making the aforementioned $60K payments), then once the last four teams are left, they re-seed the field and higher seeds host. The final round is actually a best of three with the higher seed getting home court for games 1 and 3 (if needed).

Can you imagine if the '88 Sooners had gotten to play KU best-of-three? Even with it being in KC, we'd still take two out of three.

Yeah, I just always have to exaggerate when bashing OSU.

I'd give Tulsa the edge for this season at least if they won the CBI, though.

Yeah, me too. On both counts. :D

At the risk of sounding like Keith Burns, I do think that TU and aggy are heading in opposite directions. Wojo seems to finally have things figured out down on 11th and Haaaaaaaaaaaaaahvard.

Bubba must have cut the Gazelle Group another $60K check, 'cause TU hosts Utah Monday night at the RenCen. :D
