This city really really sucks. It's my first visit, and though I've only been here a few hours it feels like weeks.

I was there a few years ago and went to a brewpub in whatever that entertainment district is down there. The place was called the Hub. Not bad. College crowd. Probably plenty of girls to shoot you down.

Waco sucks just as much, if not worse. I have never and will never defend Waco.

I think after the wedding tomorrow I'll go look around the Texas Tech campus. Any picture requests?

If Jesus loves me at all he'll grant me a Mike Leach sighting.

Actually Tech's campus is surprisingly nice. Especially compared to Lubbock in general, and DEFINITELY nicer than the gulag that is the A&M campus.

Get a picture of the Budy Holly statue. I have no idea of any other landmarks in Lubbock.

That's right next door to my hotel so I will do. I wanted a pic of myself next to the statue, but the place doesn't appear to be frequented by visitors so only if I find someone to hold the camera.

Will Rogers Statue. Supposedly his horse, Soapsuds, rear faces Austin? Somethin' like that.

I think the Buddy Holly glasses are cooler than the Buddy Holly statue, that's just me, though.

There are some decent bars around there. Much better town than B/CS, but that ain't sayin' much.

Better than the rest of Lubbock... well, if that isn't damning with faint praise, I don't know what it. ;)

I haven't been to the TTU campus since '90 or '91... it was better than the rest of town... but I still got sand in my eyes everywhere I went whether on or off campus. Ergo, the whole place sux.

I had a blast the last two times I was in Lubbock.

I actually enjoy going to Waco for OU/Baylor games, though (why else would one go there?) It's hard getting momma past Hillsboro and the outlet malls all the way to Waco.

Where's the glasses statue?

The Buddy Holly Center, which is in the Depot District, if I'm not confused. Pretty cool stuff.

I haven't been, but his grave is at the city cemetary, if'n you're interested in that kind of thing.

Tech has a pretty sweet new golf course, from all the reviews.

Translation: the guy that I've/we've been using as a SicEm standin at tailgates and in photographs is nowhere near Lubbock, so I won't be posting a picture.

Agreed. I haven't been to Ames, so I can't say this with 100% certainty, but the A&M campus and Bryan/Dead Collie Station rank as the worst campus/college town in the Big 12. With ease.

It might be a tie. Ames is pretty bad, from what we saw/experienced.

So, the wedding went well. It was actually one of the best weddings that I've ever attended.

The bridesmaids were freaking smoking hot. I mean HOT. One of them was even a peppermint patty.

Anyway, the funny thing is that the only person I knew at this wedding (Besides the groom) was one of the groomsmen. After the wedding, we went and had drinks and we were drinking beer and he tells me that he didn't drink beer until another mutual friend of his talked him into it one day. He said, "Man the only thing I used to drink at Baylor was Zima."

I really had to stop myself from busting out laughing since I've never touched the stuff and he was admitting to loving Zima. Anywhoo, good times were had.

Best women's t-shirt I have ever seen was in Lubbock at the mall. It said on it:

"Not everything in Lubbock is flat!" across the Boobs! Made me almost spit my drink out!

Other than that, I love Lubbock. It has a little charm to it. Probably because I have been there so much. Definitely has a great party seen with the college kids since there is nothing else to do there.
