To answer your question, of course. Whether or not something has a name is orthogonal to whether or not it exists. Lots of the things that exist that don't have names, hence the popularity of Sniglets in the 80s.

Think about this: How would you describe what a word is without using words? That's what you'd have to do if "word" was the first word.
