Our play continues to be sloppy, down 16-5 6 minutes into the game. The Sooner Women are vastly overrated in my opinion. Some good players, but they dont' know how to take care of the ball at all.

no real surprise there.

watching this on dvr so there's some delay, but did anyone else see Takia Starks punch Jenna in the head? crazy

Courtney's streak might end tonight.

looking like it may, 12 minutes to go and she only has 2 rebounds. Jenna has 4 :o

As usual A&M is playing much more physical than we are.

and blocking out, making shots, NOT making turnovers...

We have looked like a bad high school team too often this season.

Courtney does a lot, but the women who truly take things to the next level are a bit lighter on their feet. Our team has been embarrassed twice this week, once at home, and once on the road. Except for the KSU game in Manhattan and the 2 point loss to Tennessee, we have looked pretty poor most of the season, and still we have 21 wins. Of course, tonight we did not have reserve forward/guard Nyeshia Stevenson. I don't know if her defense and 7.3 points per game would have made much of a difference, but still it's an athletic body on the court in crimson.

If we could at least the A&M lead down to 12 or so it would not look quite as bad.

SoonerShark
3/6/2008, 10:31 PM
We reached 50!

SoonerShark

Courtney only has 7 rebounds so far with less than 2 minutes to go. A&M 66, OU 51 with 1:54 to go.

In the women's tourney, KSU will be the #1 seed, Baylor the #2, OSU #3, A&M #4, and we have to play an extra game as the fifth seed unless we score 20 points the last two minutes.

Paris gets her ninth rebound with 1:40 to go and then Courtney gets an offensive foul.

We have too many top athletic women leave Oklahoma for other state's teams. Of course, we have women from out of state. Courtney just got her 10th and 11th rebounds and we are within 10 with 1:20 to go.

With all the complaints about our mens guards, our womens is absolutely horrible! They can not shoot, layups included, defend and their decision making is some of the worst I've seen at any level. Come on guys good looks should not give Cole a free pass! ONE and DONE in the NCAA TOURN.

It's all over except for the sweeping the floor.

And the men's guards are just as young. Jenna seemed better last year as a freshman.

Final 73-59 A&M wins darnit.

We were down by 26 with about 5:22 left and got back to within 10 before all the free throws by A&M at the end. It is frustrating this year.

glad they fought back as it looked like they had mailed it in defensively for a while during the second half.

Even with the two straight losses, 11-5 is a pretty good for a team that lost six seniors that all contributed. We performed much better defensively for most of this season. Hopefully heading in to next year we will develop some of the outside presence we desperately need. Jenna seemed better last year because she wasn't the only 3-point threat we had and did not have a hand in her face every shot.

Other teams have young guards that can shoot (make a lay-up) and make good decisions! Give me a break! This team has clearly underachieved. they'll be lucky to win a game in the Big XII Tournament!

It is amazing how we seem to just "assist" the ball to nowhere, resulting in a turnover. We played well at conference champion KSU and nowhere else. We were in line to be top seed on Sunday then fell all the way to fifth, which means we have to play 4 games for the tourney championship. We should win on our first game and hopefully our second. We play No. 12 Missouri at 2:30 on Tuesday, then the winner of that game plays No. 4 A&M at 2:30 on Wednesday. The winner of that game probably plays No. 1 KSU at 6:00 Thursday.

When discussing the mens game you always hear basketball people talk about how important the play of your guards are come tournament time. I would contend that is no different for the womens game, and anyone with eyes can see how bad our guards are. So...IMO that's not good news at all for any chance of post season success.

It would help if we had consistent outside shooting, but we don't. And we also don't have very good team chemistry. And our post players aren't quick enough to match up with some teams. Oh well.

And the men's guards are just as young.

Not exactly.

Women's Guards That Average 10 Minutes or More Per Game
Robinson (31.3) - Frosh
Plumley (30.7) - Soph
Stevenson (18.3) - Soph
Vining (11.0) - Frosh

Men's Guards That Average 10 Minutes or More Per Game
Crocker (31.3) - Soph
Johnson (31.4) - Jr
Godbold (28.4) - Sr
Leary (16.9) - Jr
Davis (13.1) - Frosh

Yeah we do. It's consistently bad.

correct; just this year alone Goodrich and Brewer are two that come to mind; why can't we get the best players in the state to stay here?
