you use a word that you've used hundreds of times before, but for some reason THAT specific time it sounds totally wrong.

Earlier I used the word "alternation" and then thought, "wait, did I just make that up?" I actually had to pull out a dictionary to make sure it was a real word.

it's almost like when you say a word over and over it starts sounding dumb. or sometimes you write a word and it looks like it's spelled wrong. like "been"

Last semester i was sorta tutoring a Columbian dude--basically helping him pronounce things better. And I was trying to explain how different words are pronounced differently depending on context, and how different letter combinations are different depending on what word they're in. THAT'S what it's called! awesome.


but that's totally not the way I was using the word.
