Tan & Tone America commerical: Tanning is good for you because it gives you vitamin D.

That'll go over as well as that KFC commercial that tried to take advantage of Atkins mania.

Hey Bob, looking good. You been working out?

Nope, just eating a bucket of low-carb fried chicken a day!

Actually my mom's doctor recommended her to be out in the sun 15-20 minutes for her left ankle's sake...gout and arthritis....for vitamin d exposure. BUT not to put any tanning lotion on it.

I'll be jealous of her ankle tan.....

of course they are silent on the fact the increased risk of developing skin carcinomas more than offsets any slight amount of vitamin D you suck up while fake baking.

It's sort of like saying drinking whisky is good for you because it helps keep you hydrated.

Bottomline: the only way cats get vitamin D is by sunning. That's why they like to lie in a bright spot in your house. Felines are unable to metabolize vitamin D in their diet. Unlike cats, we can metabolize vitamin D from food. Therefore, save some dough by just drinking a cup of milk oncet in a while.
