forget all the "trick your kids into hating Christianity/reverse CS Lewis ideological screw job stuff", it's just a terrible movie.

looks great, but it's just stupid. the plot sequence is absurd. the last half hour i was thinking "gawd, this movie sucks".

Has Nicole Kidman ever been in a good movie?

I finally finished reading "His Dark Materials" last night. I don't see how it could be made into a movie and make any sense. I still plan to see it.

i haven't read the books but it's terrible. I guess they plan to make more? or have filmed them already.

I listened to the books on CD during my xmas trip...in a word, they were awesome. IMO, you have to really want the atheism thing to be there for it to be there and carry any significant meaning. Otherwise, it's just an alternate-reality world that you can suspend disbelief for and buy into a really good story.

But I agree...the movie wasn't really all that great...

Far And Away
Batman Forever

What's that, 2 for about 50? Not a good average, even if you use the Stoolwater College football scale.

His Dark Materials isn't atheist. There actually is a god, angels, heaven and hell in the book.

Of course, he does twist 'em. A bit. :)

To Die For was a pretty good movie. I'm all for knocking off Matt Dillon. ;)

Billy Bathgate was also good.

Actually, Joaquin Pheonix got the best part in To Die For as I recall.

The Spiderwick Chronicles PS2 game doesn't suck quite as bad as the Golden Compass game...

Just an FYI...:D

I thought Moulin Rouge was actually pretty good, in a trippy sort of way.

The Roxanne tango is just freakin' awesome.
