I much prefer TT but I always use TS because it's quite a bit cheaper. So, I usually enter all my info in TT to make sure the refund/payment amounts match so I'm comfortable with the TS results.

I did it just now and saved myself over $300. TT reminded me to include last year's state income tax payment which put me over on the itemized deductions and gave me a $51 refund rather than a $250 tax due!

However, TT has a lower Oklahoma taxable income amount than TS by $201. You can't see the form on TT so I can't figure out what it is. The change occurs when TT subtracts the Oklahoma deduction amount of $3000 ($1000 x number of exemptions)....somehow they are subtracting $3,200.

Any idea what that extra $200 might be? An extra credit amount or something?

Okay, I've been getting tons of PM's begging me to update this issue.

I believe TS did not exclude $200 of my interest earnings from Oklahoma financial institutions which you are allowed to do.

How long has TaxSlayer been out? A friend just recently learned the downside of using fly-by-night tax software...

I've used it for several years, I think others here have as well. I think Norm said he used it......not that that's an endorsement or anything. :D

I've used TaxSlayer for the last 4 or 5 years without any issues.

I usually do my taxes by hand first and then enter everything on the TaxSlayer site. Pay my $9.95 fee and usually get the refund within 10 days.
