i can't say i think we are the kind of team that's gonna respond well to 1. needing this W like there's no tomorrow and 2. wearing the 1988 unis.

pressure ain't our thing.

but, man, the lettering on those unis brings back memories.

King Crimson

our D is playing really well. Our O doesnt look too hot but with Blake out and Longar hurting, Im pretty happy with the score so far

I feel like Longar is getting hacked alot down low.

These guys around here on sf.com who blame our record on Capel's coaching neede to take a look at this game and this 1st half. We can't hit a layup, and yet he still has our guys, even hurt ones, playing like this is their last game ever.

Youngsooner
3/1/2008, 02:38 PM
hey I'm a FULL supporter of Jeff Capel!

cheezyq
3/1/2008, 02:41 PM
I know most of us are, but I've read complaints that he's not getting our players into scoring position. Sorry, but if you're in position to put a layup in and still miss, then the problem isn't coaching. :)

Youngsooner
3/1/2008, 02:42 PM

King Crimson

Cade Davis' J has a strange trajectory

King Crimson
3/1/2008, 02:44 PM
Longar is the man

we sure are getting a lot of breaks. they step on the bounds line and then we get the charge.

i have no doubt, with our killer instinct, we can put these guys away.

(LOL)

It's gotta be the unis.

Collier11
3/1/2008, 02:47 PM
Wierd fouls being called, we are missing alot of easy shots or this 14 pt lead would be bigger, and we are forcing them to shoot jumpers and they arent a great shooting team from outside...THis is looking good thus far

I'm sure if I looked long enough I could find an answer myself or McGuiver something, but here's my question: As I'm stuck in the office w/ no tv, is there any way to listen to the game (no AM radio either, just FM and 107.7 is playing all your favorites from the 70's and 80's...and, sadly, those favorites aren't Mookie Blaylock and company) via the 'net? Soonersports.com had a link, but it's a pay-to-listen thing. Thanks in advance

post game coach is saying they'll know more this afternoon. gonna do an MRI.

Longar apparently is supposed to start feeling better they projected "at or around the NU game"....and Coach was feeling good about that.

TAMU has really gone into a slump.

I watched the entire 1st half...

That last 12 minutes of the 1st half was pathetic...

They should probably call it a season now.

bri
3/1/2008, 05:54 PM
I came in and started watching at the end of the first. I was amazed that A&M could only manage 10 points in 20 minutes...'cause that's the only way to make someone who can only score 28 points in 20 minutes look like world-beaters. :D

Straz1999
3/1/2008, 06:02 PM
I saw a halftime score on the CBS ticker on the AFN over here in the sand and it said 28-10 at the half. I was thinking, NO WAY, they actually scored less than us in the first half of the NU game? I wasnt sure that was all possible.

bri
3/1/2008, 06:11 PM
Heh. It reminded me of a Calvinball Classic we played at home against Baylor a few years back where the halftime score was 21-14, BU.

Lord, I miss the 80's. Even sh*tty teams could hang 120 on people. :D

That's because teams in the 70s/80s had players that could actually shoot the ball outside of 2 feet from the rim. Since that time, most players have been Jordanized into working only on their dunking skillz so that they can get the big contract and the highlights on ESPN.

I agree to a point. There is no doubt that the shooting..foul shooting in particular isn't as good as it used to be but I also think the game a MUCH more physical now than then. I also think halfcourt defense is much better as a whole now. I think a guy like Michael Beasley could score 60 in a game if they called fouls as tight now as they did then.

Look at AJ. People are always on him saying he needs to gain weight. Players like him were the norm in the 70's and 8o's.

As good a player as George Gervin was in his day I think today he would have to hit the weights hard or else he wouldn't have been pushed around like a tackling dummy.

Hey, don't blame MJ. He had range, as his 3-point outburst against Portland in Game 1 of the 1992 Finals will attest. And, let us not forget that the final shot of the Bulls' dynasty was a 19-foot jumper by Jordan.
