A thread to appreciate the best band of the 80s.
That's right, we're here to appreciate Huey Lewis and the News.

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

American Psycho
Yes it is!
In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

said magazine once had a story a few years ago about a book written by groupies. They had a blip about the rockers who were packin the most microphalicphones if ya know what I mean, in a Tom Jones thing kinda way. Anywho I certainly recall that ole Huey had one of the biggest of the said Tom Jones bulge things.
don't ask me why I recall this, I'm certainly content with you know my masculinity and machismo stuff and all, um, yeah.

I remember reading the same story. Let's be honest, is there anyone who deserves a giant **** more than Huey Lewis? I think not.
