What say you folks. Is it Pizza Hut?

Are you looking for fast food, or full-service?

'Cause, as far as full-service goes, I'm thinking somewhere like Ruth's Chris or Lawry's gets the nod. If you're talking regional instead of national, prolly something along the lines of Kirby's/Mickey Mantle's. If you're going fast food, prolly something like Steak and Shake would be my vote.

A little of each. I did really enjoy Steak and Shake in Michigan.

I don't want to infringe on Frankensooner's territory.

Fast: I like Whataburger. Braums is usually good, but just a regional chain.

My kids love Applebees for some reason. I like Mimi's Cafe,

Oh **** no, unless you meant to say most mediocre.

SAT Review: Pizza Hut is to pizza what Taco Bell is to Tex-Mex, KFC is to fried chicken, and LJS is to seafood. Literally, since they're all owned by the ironically named Yum! Foods.

A&W is the lone shining star in the Yum! constellation. Pizza Hut isn't awful, but I think you'll die if you eat at LJS or KFC more than quarterly, and Taco Bell is simply wretched.

Would you like some Italian food with your garlic?

Best Italian-type chains:

Carraba's
Spaghetti Warehouse
Johnny Carino's

Anybody who says Olive Garden gets negged.

I think Burger King is owned by Yum! (or used to be at least) as well.

Burger King has never been part of the Yum/Tricon/PepsiCo family. It was owned by Pillsbury/GrandMet/Diageo before being sold to PE firm Texas Pacific and taken public.

Macaroni Grill is pretty good too.

Yes, Olive Garden sucks.

I like Whole Foods. You can eat in their little bisto, then do some shopping, all while under the same roof.

Has Ted's reached "chain" status yet?

For fast food, I'll second the mentions of Taco Cabana and Steak n Shake.

For sandwiches, I like Jimmy John's.

For steaks, I'll go with Santa Fe Cattle Co.

On a serious note, if I have an extra $140+ sitting around, I like Ruth's Chris. I enjoy Carino's for a "normal-priced" meal. If I'm slummin', count me in for the ever-generic Papa John's or Taco Cabana.

Anyone ever seen a Kentaco Hut?

For sandwiches, I like Jason's Deli.

Fixed. Goodcents is better than Jimmy John's, too.

And of the large nationwide pizza chains, Pizza Hut pwns. They're no New York Pizza, and I can heave a rock in Chicago and hit four places better than any Pizza Hut, but still.

NOTE: If you're on the east or west coast, don't bother with a Pizza Hut, but they rock in the center of the country. Which is where I am.

Yeah, right next to the Long John A&W.

The only thing exceptional about Mickey Mantle's restaurant was the price. I had the filet and it was dry to the bone. The wife's sea bass was good but nowhere near the price you pay. The decor was OK and frankly the bar was the most impressive part about our experience.

Mmmn... double butterburger with cheese and bacon. Throw in some onion rings and you have a clogged artery ready to happen.:D

Well, you should give it another chance. Everyone has an off night. They have precious few; that's why I like them so much. I've eaten there many dozens of times, and have only had one bad meal. But I generally never write off a steakhouse until I've been there more than once.

My favourite fast food restaurant chain is definitely Oishi.

They are one of those sushi/sashimi conveyor belt, Shabu Shabu cook at your table, all-you-can-eat for $8 type of deals.

The only problem is that there is a 15-30 minute queue during lunch.

They also sell the best bottled green tea.

I don’t recommend, however, their sushi/sashimi home delivery service, especially during the summer months.

For Oklahoma restaurants, I'm still loving on that Mexican place in downtown Ardmore - Casa Roma - I think. I have to eat there every time I'm home. I tried that frogs (three frogs? five frogs? something frogs?) place the last time I was home, and the steak was the best I've had in the US for many, many years. Anyway, good eating!

This is not an endorsement of non-mediocrity.
