A friend at work is getting new HDTV, thus he needs a new cable box (with DVR). He was just running the cable from the wall to the tivo to the tv before.

What's the best way to hook it up so that you can record on the Tivo and the DVR? He wants to be able to record on both because his Tivo isn't an HD TIVO. What cable will he need. I know he will need an HDMI cable for the box to the tv, but which are needed from the tivo to the box. Will he need a RF splitter.

I've never had any experience with a Tivo, so I thought I'd ask here.

TIA. :D

you'd need to split the cable to each of them and use the different inputs on the TV for each of them

a lot of people seem to just be ditching the TiVo

Yeah, I think they will eventually, but he said his wife tapes a TON of stuff, and the DVR boxes for Time Warner don't hold that much, especially when recording in HD.

I'd give them a few drinks first.
