Sounds like a domestic abuse incident involving a gun (and alcohol no doubt) to me.

it'd be awesome if it was a terrorist trying to cause a disturbance just to get shot up with hundres of m16 bullets.

A disclaimer: at the time this thread was started and the thread took on its current character, that link only mentioned that there was an altercation at Tinker, and nothing about the nature of it.

I still haven't heard what happened..didn't watch television last night, haven't looked at the news..when I heard about this yesterday I was trying to get information for people on my floor - I'm a safety person here and I send out alerts when there are traffic problems, etc. (like last week when B'way extension was closed due to a fatality accident). I heard there was a "disturbance" at Tinker and that traffic in and out of the base was closed. I couldn't find anything on the news to substantiate the report that I had, so I thought I'd ask here in case someone at Tinker knew whether it was true or not.

Didn't mean for this to take the turn it did, sorry for that.

guy with a history of mental problems was chasing his wife around the house tasering her....she manages to get away.

he shoots his children ages 4 and 8 (in the head and in the heart) then shoots himself.

sad.

she had recently been refused a restraining order, but i don't know the facts on why.

True, but if they manage to catch the nutjob before he kills somebody, they have an extra crime to charge him with. That doesn't mean much to the poor woman running around her house trying to get away from the freak, but it's not like they can park a cop out in front of the house 24/7, either.

FWIW, the two lived on base.....if she would have actually showed up to the appearance for the court order, the SPs would have MADE SURE he was nowhere close to those kids. i am positive this is why they keep reporting the mother is not handling things well. i am fairly positive he shouldn't have an unchecked (unit armorer?) weapon on base. period. i actually witnessed a 16 year civilian get escorted off base in cuffs and was later fired for actually having a taser on base.

unless you are deploying or actively defending the base, i think weapons are 100% illegal. anyone else with current or past knowledge of the airforce know for sure? I know in combat arms in the army, our weapons were an extension of our own body 300+ days of the year. chow hall, bathroom, motorpool, wash rack......etc.

I have actually worked with this guy in the past. you just never know about some people. in my opinion, she messed up by not letting his chain of command know just exactly how bad he had gotten and the nature of his threats. still, she is going to be in a bad way for a while. thoughts and prayers.

yes i have worked with him on base. he did the same thing i do but he did it as military. the air force, over the past 2 years have made huge pushes to keep the military members from being homicidal/suicidal by bringing in the wingman program. in this program, NOONE gets left behind. if they are acting a lil off, ANYONE is qualified to turn them in for an evaluation. the stress levels behind these military folks these days are off the charts and they are seeing record amounts of suicide attempts, duis, and violent crimes. all "engines" are equal in this program and the slogan states all 4(engines) have to be strong for the person to be "well" the 4 engines being: social , spiritual, physical, emotional

if she has been having problems with him over the last year, she should have 1. turned him in to his chain of command 2. showed up to the court appearance. if she would have done either, those children would be alive right now. Im not blaming her, im simply spelling out what she is more than likely killing herself over right now. i feel for her because no matter how good she manages to make herself feel for the rest of her life, this will ALWAYS be right near the surface of her mind. there is no hiding from the "what ifs" and the "this is _____ 16th birthday. I wonder what he/she would wear to this years prom" etc......... it is a terrible tragedy that it happened and even worse is the fact that someone didn't mention the fact of past domestic "issues" with this couple and that they decided to switch off every 4 days staying at the family home with the kids.

need sleep....here's something to chew on though. as you can see, tinker and the air force in general has taken notice of the trends with military members and decided they need to do something.....this article is dated last march.

Correct...any and all personal firearms MUST be checked into the base arsenal. For Officers, you get caught with a firearm on your person or in your on-base home...instant article 15.

And JB...I'm not up there yet. I'm still finishing up at Randolph AFB, TX (I'm leaving Sunday for three weeks at Survival School in Spokane). I'll be reporting in at the 552nd in early April.
