I just finished washing and waxing my Nissan Frontier, which is not a lot of fun, so I got to thinking: I wonder how many people still wash and wax their own automobiles by hand?

Yeah, shoulda been a pole. :D

...but that's what makes being on here so much fun. ;)

...anyway, washing and waxing over with, I'm grilling chicken here in a bit. Might even drink a cold one.

true dat, but when I do actually decide to work that's where my focus is, now that work is over I can do other stuff. ;)

Wouldn't trust them with my ride. ;)

I don't even trust the full-service washer & waxers that's got them big fancy facilities.

edit...yeah I know, it's a Nissan Frontier, not a Ferrari.

Actually, you make a good point. When we were selling our last car, I took it to a local place to get detailed - I'd guess about 90% of the workers didn't speak much/any English. When I got it back, they had caked on the Armor All or whatever it was so thickly that my hand would be coated with the stuff just by grabbing the steering wheel. They also sprayed it all over the plastic covering the speedometer so I had to wipe that off too. Yuck!

I wash the cars in the driveway when the weather permits - even though that's bad for the environment.

I used to do the paste wax thing, but I've gotten lazy and now just use the spray wax.

As tedious as it is to do every so often you can imagine what it would be like to do it all day. I'm pretty sure that if I worked at one of those places I'd be careless a lot of the time too.

When I owned a vehicle worth waxing...I'd wax it 2-3 times a year.

Wait a minute... Is "waxing your vehicle" some kind of euphemism? If so, I need to change my response.

I have been told ( a long while ago) that most cars have paint jobs that don't need a wax.

I wax often:O
